saying rondo wants the max is like saying the sky is blue. I hope we don't give him the max because I don't think he is worth it. Thats why I think we eventually trade rondo. I want to trade him before the start of the season but ainge will wait a little for maybe his stock to get better. also to let smart be the back up for a bit. I really really want to trade rondo to be honest.

This is exactly why we are making the playoffs, ROndo is going to play like playoff rondo all season long.

You really think 'playoff Rondo' can elevate the team to a record that's 15 wins above last year?

He could.

Rondo hurt the team with his poor play this past year, cost them wins. If he returns to his normal form and helps the team it could easily be a net of 15 games even if his play is normal worth 5-10 wins.

The east should be tougher this coming year though, I don't think you can be quite so bad and have the 8th seed this coming year.

I'm sure you, like me, aren't particularly excited about yet another thread that turns into whether or not Playoff Rondo really exists and to what degree, but I do think it's worth pointing out that there's some evidence that 'Playoff Rondo' is secretly 'Rondo playing more minutes', even if the eye test does make it look like, you know, he's really trying this time 'cause he's on national television (an assessment I agree with)

Wait, so you don't think "Playoff Rondo" exists but barely half a sentence later you say you do agree that he tries harder during nationally televised games? Define: Contradiction.

Why does this surprise any of you? The awesome thing is that the usual suspects around here want to pay a ROLE PLAYER like Rondo, max dollars. He is severely overrated and Ainge needs to do the right thing now and trade him for whatever value the Celtics can get.

First prove to me that you can actually comprehend what I wrote.

I mean so many role players get triple doubles more often than most other players in the NBA, right?

Fair enough. Rondo is worth that if returns to pre-injury form.
no he isn't.  Rondo has never been a max contract player.  Good player, sure, great player nope.

Rondo isn't even a good player - he's a fringe player that is lucky to be in the league.

Rondo's playoff per 36 numbers

13.6 p, 8.6 a, 5.6 r, 1.8 s, 2.7 t, 46% from 2, 27.7% from 3, 64.7% from 1

Rondo's regular season per 36 numbers

12.1 p, 9.2 a, 5.0 r, 2.1 s, 3.1 t, 49.5% from 2, 25.2% from 3, 62.1% from 1

In other words, not a whole lot different.  The reality is, everyone who talks about playoff Rondo only ever focus on his great games and completely ignore his terrible games, which he has a lot more frequently then most people realize.  But that is Rondo, great one game, terrible the next, with some average games sprinkled in.

Glad to see the Rondo detractors arrive. Rondo is a role player seriously?  ::) Rondo to me worth the max he's a legitimate all-star and one of the best Point Guards in basketball.
