I agree with the second half, but I don't know about the first.

full disclosure: Parish is my favorite Celtic of all time, and it pains me to say that.

Isaiah may have a point.(sarcasm alert)   7 footers who run the floor, protect paint, block shots and average 10 plus rebounds and get 20 in the paint have no role.   Besides his superior pick and roll and excellent passing ability would be a deterrent.   And who wants a guy that takes care of his body and maintains a 20/10 average until age 40?

You know, now that I think about it, I'm not sure Parish could play today, he is going to be 61 over the summer.

Parish had the height and (likely) wingspan scouts drool over today. 7ft 1/2inch . .. probably bare feet but that's how he was always listed. He'd have the height on almost everyone nowadays.

He was 5x more agile and speedy that someone like Roy Hibbert. WAY better mid-range game. WAY better post moves with the turnaround, etc. Similarly great defense and a team guy, happy to give up stats for the betterment of the team.

He was lean and ran well but wasn't a beanpole. The Chief, esp given today's weight lifting and strengthening programs, would have been HOF caliber, just like he was. He'd probably do better in today's NBA. Crazy to think about!

A good question is, Where have all the good centers gone?  It is unfortunate that Russell and Wilt didnt play today.  They would have been fun to watch in the Internet age.  Much of their greatness has been lost.  There haven't been 7 footers with their athleticism since.

He didn't elaborate as to why, especially since Sikma and Parish were two totally different types of players. And if Skima couldn't play, then I guess Laimbeer couldn't play either. So it makes me wonder how Hawes, Bonner, Frye, etc. are playing today.

If memory serves, back in the 80's, we used to refer to Thomas as "pond scum."  Remember what he did to Magic after the HIV announcement?

Chief, Sikma and Laimbrain would all be playing today and playing quite well.  However, I'm sure they wouldn't be playing as many minutes as they did during the prime of their careers - too many stretch 5 types these days.

Chief was always underrated, especially outside of Boston.
