Jump muscles and support muscle are two different things. You can have a guy squat 500lbs, and have a 24 inch vert, but a guy that does 300lbs, and has a 33 inch vert. Thats were some thing like stretch's and yogo comes into place.
Big muscles don't mean strength. Ever see a video of a bodybuilder take on an arm wrestler half his size. It's pretty funny to see a hulking guy struggling against some one half his size and then to lose.
No where did I say, he had big muscles, I said he had strong ones. So go off on your tanget that doesn't apply here. I doubt you squat much or jump high, so cut the BS routine. I don't know where you got your info but it is wrong.
Olympic lifting especially the power lifts are some of the best ways to build strength and they strengthen the core while you do them. Power lifters have some of the best verticals out there. While it is true that big muscles do not equate to leaping or power. Thin guys generally are not as powerful as muscular guys.
Stretching isn't very good for verticals. There is a good deal of research that says it lowers verticals especially right after the stretch.
I see no yoga gurus in the NBA. Some players may take it up to increase flexibility but guess what gymnasts and martial sprain their ankles too and they are boku flexible.
First, I missed spoke about the BIG muscle, my bad. Second your out of line.
My wife has a DPT, and we have gone over AB's constant injuries. I also have a friend that is a strength trainer who owns his own gym. Who had constantly sprained his ankles before taking up his new current career. Now it's been a none issue.
I use to lift before my back got bad. I had a friend roughly the same build who could squat twice as much as me, I couldn't do much for some reason, around 150, yet I had a good 6 inch's on my vert. I'm 5'8" and could hang on the rim when I was at my peak working out and playing right out of highshool. I can still touch the bottom of the rim box, 10 years older, way less working out and about 60lbs heavier. No BS.
My friends father, a 5'5" 130lbs pot smoking hippie, who does sound for bands can lift the big speakers with ease where his partner, whos much bigger struggles.
While stretching does decrease your vert a bit right after, its not going to effect it the next day.
Again sorry about miss quoting you about the strong muscle, but you were a bit out of line calling me out on BS and saying my info is wrong. It was a mixture of conversations with professionals talking about AB when he hurt his ankle again, and personal experience. Of course an other professional would disagree, and thats why there are so many work out programs because every one is different. Thats Why I said AB needs to find a new work out, because what he's doing isn't working keeping him on the floor.
