I think it's a matter of time. I just hope we can fetch something worth wild.

But, what then do you think the plan is??? You think we are going to resign 30 year old Rondo to Max Dollars after he blew out his knee, and play Smart full time at shooting guard and have a backcourt where both guys can't shoot jumpers. That's a bad idea.

I guess the better question is what is the sell low price on rondo. I'm afraid it's a middle of the first round type deal coming. Slim pickings.

It would be better to risk letting him walk than to trade him for a mid first round pick.

It's absolutely possible that we could end up playing those two together as our starting back court long term.

It's also possible that we could end up trading Marcus Smart.

Also, Rondo's still going to be in his twenties by the time next off-season rolls around.

I'd say a big trade involving Rondo is very unlikely.

I think Rondo either stays or leaves during FA for nothing or for pennies on the dollar in a S&T.

I think Ainge will hold onto Rondo until 2015 FA and try to convince him to stay. If Ainge makes a big move, I like the chances of Rondo staying. If Ainge does not, then it gets murky and Rondo could leave during FA with BOS getting little or nothing in return (late first or pair of 2nd rounders or role player youth).

I predict Rondo and Bradley are the starting backcourt for next season

Nothing.

Rondo will be wearing Celtics Green for the foreseeable future.

He and Bradley (and now Maxwell Smart :)) have some work to do.

No, certainly not.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Put it this way.  If there is a 50/50 chance of playing the season with Rondo and adding a player like Love next offseason vs. watching Rondo leaving as a free agent, do you take that risk?  Or do you trade the mid round pick for Rondo now?  I think you would have to take the risk.

So now two in the bush is better than one in the hand?
