If we field the team as is, i see a small improvement. 30-35 wins.

Here come a stack of "ifs".

If rondo returns to full health as expected...
If Sullinger gets in very good shape - dropping 20 lbs of fat should be very doable in 3-4 month, when that is his job...
If Kelly Olynyk can get a little stronger so that he isn't thrown around (this is the biggest stretch)...
If Avery Bradley can be resigned at an MLE type of figure...

Then, will good health, this team wins 35-41 wins, and sneaks into the playoffs.

Without a rim protector they have no shot at getting above .500.

Not with the workouts seen posted here, he will not.

But I agree we should win 5-10 more games .

Wallace's contract is restricting much movement for free agency signups :(

This, good enough for the 8th pick right now. Interesting to see what DA does in July.

If we were good enough to make the playoffs which team do you see not making it that made it this year?
Heat, Pacers, Bulls, Raptors, Wizards, Hornets, Nets, or Hawks?  Then you have ask will we be better than the Cavs, Knicks, Magic, Pistons and even the Bucks.

I think it will be tough again to make the playoffs as I also see some of those teams improving.

I don't see the point of this current roster honestly.   This isn't a team trying their best to win.   It's too bad the nba rules make teams play this silly game.

I say 30 wins and that's pushing it..sorely need a center...like to see us sign Okafor for a cheap price
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

As is, I think we are loaded in every position (except the 5).

Rondo/Smart/Pressey
Bradley/Bayless/Johnson
Green/Young/Wallace
Sully/KO/Bass
Iverson/Fav/Hump

D-league players will be cut and that could include Pressey and Johnson.

The roster will change after the trade deadline and the free agency. I can see us recruiting some solid players from the market and hopefully a star.

Prediction: 30-40 wins as currently constructed. I'm probably reaching though.

THe problem I see is that last year was our year to tank, everything worked out perfectly for us. Rondo sat out half the season, and didnt play back to backs. we lost many games we should have won and had the 3rd worst record of celtics history.

and all we got was the 6th pick :-X

now, next year we should expect improvements from Sullinger/olynyk, rondo should be healthy and we have a 6th pick who could be a solid player. We might win 30-35 games.

not good enough to compete, but not bad enough to get a high lottery pick to land an impact player. This is the dilemma Danny is in.

The good news if those 3 things happen though is that our assets just got better if Sullinger improves on a solid sophmore campaign, Olynyk becomes a double double guy and smart looks like a solid young prospect.

As is it might win 30 games.  With the roster they ultimately enter the season with I'm going lower than that - 25 wins tops.

Normally, it's considered that the maximum weight you can lose without having health concerns is 1 to 2 lbs per week. Celtics camp will open somewhere around the last week of September, which gives Sullinger perhaps 12-13 more weeks to get in shape.

For this time, we can assume he can drop 12 to 25 lbs, depending on how hard he works and how his body responds. Also, note that he said he was "in the 280s", so this means his target weight loss may need to be closer to 30 lbs. So I wouldn't necessarily term getting to a playing weight of 260 "very doable", more like "possible under the right circumstances".

To say I'm disappointed with this state of affairs will be an understatement. It should have never gotten to where it is right now, really.

Team is deeper.  That means they could be better.

Team had injury problems last year, but they were very competitive.  No go to scorer down the stretch and a lot of blown leads.  Smart will help defensively right away - take some pressure of AB on defense and allow him to expand as a scorer.

We still need more 3 pt shooting.
