  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Forgot for a moment that New Orleans also have Jrue Holiday, Eric Gordon and Tyreke Evans in the backcourt.

PG: Jrue Holiday, (Tyreke Evans)
SG: Eric Gordon, (Tyreke Evans)
SF:
PF: Anthony Davis, Ryan Anderson
 C: Omer Asik, (Anthony Davis)

All they need is a strong role playing SF and that team is ready to make some noise.

A role playing SF???  What can we get for Jeff Green???

Great, Great question.

  • GOT IT!!!
Hearing this I immediately thought the Love trade isn't happening and Rondo is going to get traded. Long rebuild it's starting to look like.

Don't understand why Danny could not offer more for Asik. He is worth a future first in my view. We have plenty of firsts and Bogan's non-guaranteed contract - unless we are getting Embid at #6. Maybe this is good news after all!

Clearly Danny could have offered more for Asik, he just chose not to.

Much more partial to (the lower priced) Sanders.

Danny Granger grew up in Louisiana I believe. That would be a pretty solid fit.

Does NOP still have cap space?

Maybe it means that Morey expects the Celtics to make moves so that New Orleans is likely to have a better first round pick in 2015.

If Ainge let's Hump, Bogans and Bayless go and signs Avery to a 7 million dollar a year deal, he could still offer 12 million a year to Gortat and stay under the salary cap.  Hawes, Okafor and Kamen are also unrestricted free agents.  And we'd still have the TPE to use.

I'd bet money that Ainge never offered a first round pick for Asik.  I also suspect that NO pick or Houston's own this year might end up in Boston, stapled to Jeremy Lin's forehead...especially if Ainge gets a big at #6.

how does this trade work? New Orleans doesn't appear to have a trade exception or cap room right now. i suppose its agreed in principle but doesn't actually happen until the new league year when they have the cap space to take the contract?

2012 was about DeMarcus Cousins
2013 was about Josh Smith
2014 was about Omer Asik

Can finally cross his name off the "hyped-up wishlist" now lol

I'm not giving up on Cousins yet! He wont be available for many years. But someday that guy is gonna be a key component of a winning team - and not Sacramento!

Back on topic:

I like this trade for both Houston and New Orleans. The rockets get a potential lottery pick, and the Pelicans need to start winning asap. Anthony Davis is the real deal and Asik should compliment him well.

Meanwhile i wasn't convinced Asik was the answer for Boston, especially when paired with ground pounders like Sully or Love. The lack of shooting from Asik, Rondo and to some degree Bradley would have made for some bad offense.

Time to move onto another solution.

Well Danny is batting the big ZERO

Team appears to be getting even worse ...

And that's .....something

That hardly seems possible

But may come to pass

How do you bat zero when you haven't even come to the plate ?

A lottery pick for a guy who had 1 yr 15 M left ? That's way to much to give in that situation.
