I think Parker is 25/6 during his prime years, his defense is suspect but the kid can score and create match-up problems all over the floor....

Night and day compared to last year. There's just so much going on... 24 hours from now our team could be a lot different

I would definitely give up Rondo + 6 for a chance at Wiggins/Parker. You're looking at 10-15 years of contention if these guys put it together like they're expected to. And I have no doubts DA would do his part at surrounding Wiggins or Parker with a good team. I love Rondo but we gotta do it if we can.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

they could keep the picks and just keep building, trade for Love, trade Rondo, trade up to number 1?  Draft Embiid???  It's crazy.  If I was a betting man, they keep the picks and select Smart and best player available at 17....

According to Tim Welsh on CSN he believes the odds are against the Celtics making those picks as constituted.

Would you have said the same thing for Anthony Bennett last year? There's no guarantee that a draft pick will pan out, especially when they don't play defense (Parker) and played poorly against NBA-level defenses (Marcus Smart kept Parker in check).

NTM, You get 5 years our of a draft pick, then they're a FA like everyone else.

Obviously I wouldn't do that trade for Bennett. Last years draft was projected to be one of the worst of all time, complete opposite of this one. I've seen enough from Wiggins and Parker to believe that they will be perennial all stars in the NBA.

in terms of prospect status - Parker and Bennett aren't even in the same universe.

Duke didn't player OSU last year?  Parker torched Kansas ( Wiggins ), had big games against Arizona ( Gordon ) and had monster games against UNC who had one of the better wing defenders in the NCAA in JP Tokoto.  Parker is a scorer, not a Kevin Durant type of scorer but I would not be surprised at all if he was a guy that scores 25 a night early in his NBA career...

i think this rumor is a big steaming pile.

that being said, as much as Id really hate to see Rondo go, if you can get the number 1 this year without giving up ANY future picks, you almost have to jump all over it

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
The Cavs want to win now, so I don't know who they get in this deal.
Perhaps Jeff Green+Bass or Gay+Bass + the 6th, 8th + future picks.

Celtics get:

#1 pick
Ben Mclemore
J.Thompson
T. Thompson

Kings get:
Rondo
Bass

Cavs get:
#6
#8
Jeff Green
Sullinger

I keep coming back to the theory that Danny isn't trading Rondo..So this doesn't hold up to me, unless Danny really believes that Rondo is truly cooked- which I don't believe either considering how confident Rondo's been about this off season- he's gotten positive signals from Danny.
Good thing is that Danny is probably opening the lines on 3 or 4 scenarios for draft night. Even if he isn't, it continually puts pressure on Flip Saunders to decide by draft night and that's why I love our front office.
If we walked away with no Rondo and a squad of:

PG: #17 Napier
SG: Mclemore
SF: Jabari or Wiggins
PF: Sully/Olynyk
C: Clint Capella with #27 from Suns

I'd be pretty happy.

Danny could even work out which teams below us want Wiggins or Parker. ie what would the Bucks give us if they really want Wiggins and want to be sure we don't take him?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I was mistaken about the Smart thing. That being said, this article breaks down Parker's performances against good and bad defenses:

If the celtics do land the #1 pick, who do you want Ainge to take? Wiggins or Parker?
