Please god pick Smart over Randle. I get Ainge really wants to start a trend and compose a roster entirely of Powerforwards but it would be nice to draft other positions for once.

Made my day  ;D

Imagine a line-up of:

PG: KO
SG: Randle
SF: Sully
PF: Bass
C: Humphries

How many games can this line-up win?

I don't know, but they would hurt a lot of people.

Smart is rated highly, yet underrated. Until you really watch him, it's hard to appreciate how good his D is. It cemented it for me watching Exum match up against team USA at U19's. He abused good defenders like Elfrid Payton, and then Smart just suffocated him. Beat him to the spot on every drive. Got a great steal when Exum tried passing over his head, not a bad pass just incredible reflexes and hands. So many teams lean heavily on their PG for offense these days, I think he can have a huge impact on D.

He also has offensive upside. I think he'll be a solid slasher who gets to the line, an efficient 15 ppg scorer with average PG skills. He can be an all-star by making a bigger-than-expected improvement in his 3pt shot.

Thanks for the informative post.

If we draft Smart, I hope we trade Rondo for someone good.

Damian Lillard was picked 6th and he's a PG. Just sayin'.

I think anyone in this top ten (aside from Parker and Wiggins) are solid picks

judging how most of these players could be a top 2 top 3 pick in a lot of recent drafts, like Smart could be a #1 or 2 pick last year

Completely agree with you on Smart - if Embiid falls to 6 you have to take him but if he doesn't I want Smart.  His game is going to thrive in the NBA.  I wouldn't be surprised at all if we fast forward 5 years and he is one of the 2 or 3 best players from this draft....

So excited to hear this. Was worried we were going to take Gordon.

Why are people so down on Gordon. I think he might be most polished pick in draft.

I do take him over smart.......maybe Sully would be embarrassed standing next to him and lose 50 pounds

Would have no qualms drafting Smart.  Think he has an NBA ready game and would provide immediate help to this Celtics.

Pretty amazing to watch the mock draft last night on NBATV and see him as the big guy to fall.  I was a bit shocked by that.

If we take Smart, bradley is likely gone right? Unless he would take 6 mil or low per year

There's a lot of minutes to go to the guard rotation.  I think Rondo-Bradley-Smart could coexist quite well.

I'd love that 3-man rotation. Lots of ball handle, plenty of passing, and more importantly, a heck lot of defense.

If the result [of Smart dropping to 8] holds up, is it possible that we then make a Rondo trade with Sac? I absolutely want to build around Rondo and another [super]star, but this seems like the kind of re-build plan that most fans could deal with if we can't put the right players around Rondo.

I'd rather just draft Smart at #6 and keep Rondo.    See what happens with the Bradley situation.  Ideally, you have a guard rotation heading into season.    If not, you have your insurance for Bradley leaving.

I like Smart but he needs the ball in his hands to be most effective.  If Rondo is not going anywhere, this is not a good backcourt pairing for many reasons.

Doesn't even matter, cause we will be selecting Joel Embiid.  ;D
