I'm not looking to make deals just for the sake of making deals, but why do we keep RR? How does he fit a rebuilding team, at this rate we won't be good again before hes 30-31 years old. I would trade him for a top 10 pick and whatever kind of young players or cap relief we can get. I love the player but he just doesn't make sense for this team, unless we somehow land Love.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

who says we're keeping him?

It's seems clear (to me , at least) we will either add Love OR trade Rondo

If we're in full rebuild mode, we not only don't need him, he doesn't need us either

Why is that a bad thing? Celtics haven't drafted in the top 10 since 2001. It'll help to add an elite prospect here.

Too add on what I just said, what makes you think nothing will happen? Is it a feeling? Or you are just trying to temper your excitement?
Excitement about what?  Getting Love is an unlikely scenario.  Embiid isn't falling out of the Top 4.  Boston probably decides to hang onto Rondo.  THere's potential for stuff to happen, but it's foolish to expect it.  Lots of scenarios will be considered tomorrow, but the most likely scenario remains Boston keeping #6 and #17... and getting someone like Gordon with their top pick.  It'll be fine, though.  Whoever Danny takes at #6 will probably be a solid prospect.  Ainge knows what he's doing.

Didn't you start a thread yesterday about this being the most exciting draft night ever? Or something like that?

I'm in the camp of acquiring enough talent to make the playoffs next season and having the cap flexibility and assets to jump from likely first-round exit to possible contender if it's not possible to make the moves to contend immediately next season.

Love or no Love, I think the Celtics are in a good spot to acquire some of the pieces for a contender now and the rest a year from now and you don't have to acquire a superstar first as part of the long-term plan.

For me, if our young players develop enough throughout the season and we make the playoffs that'd be fantastic. However, if we just acquire enough decent players to make a low seed in the weak east and our young guys don't see much run/progress all that much I'd have to consider the season a failure or waste.

This isn't going to be an easy rebuild, it might have been with love but without him I think we have to take the long road.

Why the assumption that Ainge knows what he's doing? Any patterns to suggest that (outside of his gift from an old friend)?

This would be disappointing.  Going from having the most picks and assets in the league and summer of Love in Boston ( which raised everyone's hope) and Rondo recruiting to not making any move at all.  That would suck.

I'm predicting we'll see a significant trade tomorrow, but something that hasn't even been on the radar for the last few weeks.  Seems like Danny's M.O.

That's always a possibility. Even if the C's promised fireworks, it's tough if they don't have another team to work with.

That was the best deal Mchale could get from anyone. If he did this to help a friend, than he should be fired.

I think several things will happen.

We ll lose Rondo

Hit rock bottom with Bass at Center

Win about 18 games

Pick in the top three lottery next year

But we'll pick AFTER the Cavs  of course .....

Maybe have a new GM

yep, gotta a feeling we're goin down the same road.  All excited for nothing.  We'll just keep amassing picks then never use them ::)  Worst case scenario we draft embid at 6 and some lump at 17, keep rondo and green, and have basically the same crappy team as last year.  Yipppie!

Yeah, i dont see fireworks happening in this draft either. I bet there is some small draft pick swapping or a bought second rounder. I am really looking forward to seeing what happens with those picks though. I really like this draft.

We'll see, I foresee a lot unexpected moves tomorrow and the offseason.
