Jose Calderon and Andrea Bargnani in the same team again...looks like the Knicks are slowly becoming part of the post-Bosh era Raptors lol.

The deal leaves Dallas with $33m in cap room, not counting Dirk's cap hold. Depending on Dirk contract, Mavs could have max slot.

Very interesting.

Did Melo enjoy playing with Felton and Chandler? Or would those two discourage a reunion in Dallas?

I think Chandler & Melo got along, not clear on his relationship with Felton. I'm not even entirely sure they keep Felton - can they use the stretch provision on him? A core of Tyson/Dirk/Ellis has got to be intriguing to Melo; not the youngest core, but a ton of experience and championship pedigree. I'd say Chicago is still the favorite to sign him, but Dallas has leapfrogged Houston for the 2nd favorite, IMO.

I don't see how Houston isn't number one. Dwight harden and parson is a better supporting cast for melo then what the bulls or mavs can offer.

Noah/Rose/Gibson/Butler > Howard/Harden/Parsons/Jones/Beverly. I think the Bulls have the more complementary for Anthony and I think Thibs would challenge him the way Karl did.

2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Also rumor is that the Knicks are trying to swing Larkin and Dalembert in another deal.

Anthony fits in with the Bulls much, much better than he does with the Rockets.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Looks like Phil Jackson is blowing that trash heap sky high.
If he's shopping for picks, we are the team to talk to :)
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I just hope the C's aren't the ones trading for Dalembert. He is not a solution at starting center for any team.

"Knicks send Chandler, Felton to Dallas for Calderon, Larkin, Dalembert, Ellington and No. 34 and 51, sources told ESPN. Deal is done." - Jeff Goodman @GoodmanESPN

Looks like the Knicks are just getting started:
"I'm hearing the Knicks are trying to move Dalembert and Larkin in a separate deal, according to a person familiar with the matter." - Chris Herring @HerringWSJ

Are they ready to move on without Melo? or clearing cap for both LBJ and Melo?

I think this is actually a really strong first step by Phil.

Getting into tonight's draft, much less with 2 picks, is immense for NYK. Apparently Calderon fits their system and Dalembert is a good center with a cheap team option. He can also be waived. Larkin is not for me but has upside.

Felton is just a full on idiot the way he doesn't stay fit. Dropping him was essential. Chandler just didn't have a good run in NY, so dumping him is really not big loss. He'll have a chance to bounce back in Dallas.

With #34, they can nab a solid player and at #50 they'll get a chance to swing on another prospect. I'd go Dinwiddie or Glen Robinson III at #34 and take Dwight Powell or an international stash guy at #50.

I don't think that it's possible for the Knicks to make that much space with Bargnani and Stoudemire on the books

Nope its not. LeBron would have to take the MLE or something silly like that.

They just cost themselves space for 2015 class. Chandler is expiring and Felton makes less money than Calderon (and has a shorter deal).

This was about fit and the picks/prospects, not cap space.
