Rondo is not the player he was.
But keep living in the past if you want to.

You're right - he's a much better shooter now.

40% from the field, 28% from 3s, and 62% from the line.
He has actually gotten worse.

That's his stats for half a season, recovering from injury.
But nice try.

EDIT: 30 games not half a season

I love Rondo, too but I recently stated that Thomas from SAC could be considered better than him.   Right now, with the injury hurting his triple double threat that is true as stats clearly make that easy to see folks.

Is it just me...

Or did it seem like Rondo was driving a tank and sully was taking 3pt practice in the middle of games??
No?

Nobody saw that?

Bogans quitting and pouting and Wallace pouting and moaning and a rookie head coach and Rondo went nuts...wait...no....he had a clipboard. Was ever the soldier. Played rehab "live" with sully chucking 3's.....Bradley...dear lord....anyone remember him and his channeling of (insert favorite super chucker here).....what were you folks watching? Are we using those stats against Rondo?

No, he isn't, and he has a bum knee.

Rondo is a better jump shooter now. The reason he shot 40% is because he couldn't finish at the rim this year as well as he has in the past, took less shots at the rim than he did in the past, and took more 3s (while shooting a career high in attempts but still a bad 28%)

That's scary on two levels, shooting a lot of 3s is a problem when you're bad at it. And we have to hope that his ability to get the to the rim returns as he hits the full recovery time for his ACL injury.

Nobody here hates Rondo.  He's actually my favorite player on team.   I've had arguments with people on this forum about how good Rondo actually is... and whether or not our best course of action is to keep him or obtain assets for him...   but he's still my favorite player on the team.

I saw someone say this in another forum...  we live in the "age of hyperbole".  If you don't think something is the "best ever", everyone assumes you hate it.   Rondo gets a lot of fair criticism.  Still a fine player.

Personally I hope we keep Rondo and manage to land Kevin Love, Melo, Asik and Martin/Affalo.   THat'd be amazing.  But I'm also open to the idea of moving Rondo for picks, taking Embiid, and building this from the ground up.  Both scenarios excite me... I don't think either is likely.

in the short time I've been here, there are definitely some who have an agenda against rondo. to the point I think gary tanguay is trolling the board. some don't realize greatness when they see it. they see one flaw and that's enough.

I recognize rondo has some flaws but hell even the great Lebron James has flaws.

You don't know what type of player he is right now and neither do I.  Most players need 18 to 24 months to recover from ACL injuries like he had.  When they first come back they lack strength and lift 2 important attributes for someone who relies on quickness

Definitely people here who have an agenda against Rondo.  Those are fairly easy to see through.  Often trolling around.

There are also those who seem to find no fault with Rondo or try and deflect everything.  There's a crop of those too.  Also pretty easy to identify since you tend to see them chasing people around who offer criticism of Rondo.

I like to think most of the board falls somewhere in between;  that he's not above criticism but also recognize that he is a unique talent and has been an important part of this team for close to a decade.

I think a lot of what leads Rondo to being such a lightning rod is his skill set. It's a bit unique and not quite like what people have seen out of PGs over the years.  He's a flashy PG known for passing but has had some issues shooting.   Some people feel they haven't seen enough improvement on that part over the years.  Some see all those assists & say its stat padding while other see it as facilitating the offense.   Then defensively, some people think he gambles too much and is over rated defensively while others see him a rock solid defender.

All that has led to the big question of whether or not Rondo can lead this team back to glory and/or be a significant piece of the rebuild to glory.

You have to find an image online. Right click, select "copy image url" then in the "reply box" find the "insert image icon" click that, then paste the copied image url in between this [ IMG ][ IMG ]
