If he moves Rondo, prepare for some of the Celtics fans' vehement responses that will chant "Fire Danny!!"

Why?

Rondo can't shoot, he can't defend, and he is overpaid.

Rondo also dropped 45/15/5 on Miami in 2012 and was leading the team on that run...

4x All Star
2x First team D
2x Second team D

And Gordon Hayward is better how?

Stop trolling Rondo and be realistic for a second. If Rondo was on a max contract, you would have a point, but he's not close to that. so. no.

Rondo was the 14th ranked point guard in 2013 before the knee injury, and the 29th ranked point guard in 2014.

Gordon Hayward was the 11th ranked shooting guard, and he is younger.

Numbers don't lie.

where is this ranking you speak of?

seriously rondo can't shoot? it's either you're trolling or just re-using the typical criticism you can found in the internet regarding Rondo

Rondo shot 40% from the field and 62% from the line last year.
Do you even watch the Celtics?

Did you notice that he came back from a torn ACL? Boy, monkhouse has been in this blog for a long time. Don't go there.

So where is  the rankings that shows Rondo the 29th best PG?

Wait, what? Numbers are always used to support an argument. In fact, you do so ALL the time. However, when they don't support you, suddenly the person that's using them doesn't understand them? So if what he's saying (Rondo being ranked #29 at his position) is correct, why doesn't he understand what he's reading exactly?

He seems to be saying that Rondo was the 29th ranked point guard last year, not the 29th ranked point guard in a particular statistical category. That's misusing stats you don't really understand. Imagine if I started claiming that Rondo's the top ranked point guard in the league over the last 5 years. You'd probably think I was misusing whatever stat led me to that conclusion.

An aside, but the thought that my using stats in my posts means that I shouldn't complain when other people use stats no matter how they're trying to use (or misuse) them is pretty foolish, wouldn't you say?

DA is trying to pull off a big deal.

He needs to IMO to keep Rondo around.

If he can 'to get a star or two or a #1 draft choice

I suspect he'll trade Rondo.

Before Rondo leaves under his terms.

A least we can't look back and say Danny didn't try to keep Rondo

It just was not in the cards to get elite talent on this team......suck  :-[

I just checked on a whim and...he was 29th based on PER. (Hayward was 11th in PER for SG, so it seems likely that this is the ranking the poster was talking about.)

I'd trust numerous GMs and players over some troll who just made an account to flame rondo.

If someone thinks rondo is the 29th or 15th best pg in the NBA then I'm going to assume they are either under 10 years old and don't understand bball or over 80 and are out of their mind! lol  :)

Always good to rate a guy coming off an injury to make your point.  I think that is totally fair, NOT!

11th here http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/statistics/_/position/pg/year/2013
18th here http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/statistics/_/position/pg/year/2012

Average all those and the 29th post injured year and you get 13.5th for his career.  Throw out the post injured year and 11th.

I think he will be stronger this year and last year he was still not 100%.  The million dollar question is whether he will get back to 100%.

Not that Hollinger is the be all end all at rating dudes either folks.   Let us not forget, he is part of the talking heads  and talk over crowd at ESPN,  where hyperbole and presentation trump facts.

Actually he works for Memphis's front office now, even if his pet metric still sucks.  ;)

Pretty much any "one number to determine player worth" stat is awful. PER is awful and additionally visible because ESPN made it ubiquitous.
