I just don't think Danny gives up Rondo that cheap.  He knows he's got a huge asset.  The number 8 pick and their garbage is not up to the Danny evaluation.     This might be Green.   Or you know Danny's asking for another first to be included.   2 firsts, Maclemore and Thomas.   Now I'm almost on board.

Green and #17 for #8 and filler.

Insufficient.  Green and 9 would not get the 8.  Plus redundant of Gay.

I think what Ainge is doing here is he isnt looking to trade rondo like some are predicting here, its trade sullinger and 17.

If Sully can be the main piece in a love trade, he can darn sure be the main piece in a #8 pick trade.

I think the target at that point would be Gordon at 6 and Randle at 8.

Rondo
Bradley
Gordon
Randle
Olynyk

I LIKEY

I was thinking along the same line. IMO Randle would be before Gordon though. Read that Randle canceled a second workout with the Celtics for some reason. So obviously they have some interest in him.

In this scenario Rondo would still be traded at some point, he's not going to stick around a rebuild like that.

Imo

To kings : rondo
To celts: 8th , outlaw, terry (waived)
No way I trade Rondo just for a #8 pick

Neither would I. That is pure craziness in my opinion. That Rondo for #8 plus McLemore deal that people keep mentioning makes me shiver. Rondo is worth way more than that, and I don't understand the obsession with McLemore. He has a long way to go before he proves to be worth his draft position.

And look what Philly got for Jrue Holiday? If anything, Rondo is certainly worth more than Holiday, not less.

I don't think that's cheap and I definitely wouldn't call McLemore "garbage". People complain a lot about McLemore, but let's not forget that he's still so young. Rondo in his rookie season had the following numbers:

FG - 41.8
FT - 64.7
3PT - 20.7
PPG - 6.4
RPG - 3.7
APG - 3.8
TOV - 1.8

I could see sac wanting sully and Bradley to pair with cousins, gay, and Thomas.

I could see us drafting Embiid at 6 and McDermott at 8.  If no Embiid, then Vonleh at 6 and Gordon at 8, Levine at 17.  flip a future pick(s) at bucks for Henson

You could keep rondo or trade him for a later pick and good player. Sign Reggie Jackson and we have a pretty successful rebuild

Unless they like Jeff as a PF. That is their biggest area of need. Cousins/Green/Gay could be interesting.

I don't see sac trading down to #17 for green but if we acquire the Wolves #12 pick in a Kevin Love trade which could be likely if they are asking for one of the nets picks, then I can see them trading #8 for green and #12.

That line-up is awful.

No, it's a sweet lineup, but Randle might not be there at 8.

Green and #17 for #8 and filler.

Isaiah Thomas can't be traded on Draft Night.

Considering Sacramento's desire for veterans that package would be my guess... The filler being an unwanted contract (or 2) from Sacramento.

Danny, earlier in the draft process, stated that the top tier in this draft consists of 8. I see him targeting a mix of Embiid/Smart/Gordon/Vonleh/Randle (in that order) depending on availability. I think he wants to keep Rondo to build around (ala Pierce) because he thinks Rajon will stay regardless of if a star is acquired this offseason or not.

Ainge will not sell low on Rondo or Sullinger and will sell high on Green.

Imagine if we get Love with the 6th pick (somehow exclude 17) then make a trade with Green to the Kings for the 8th pick? We could literally have Rondo, Love, and a top 10 pick in a loaded draft

Well, whatever.   I'm just saying that anybody that has watched Danny Ainge deal knows he isn't giving up his best player for just the 8th pick and mcclemore and etc.    He just doesn't do that type of deal.  He always tries to get more out things, to the point some gm's won't even take his calls ( or that's the rumor).   If Rondo's going he's getting a haul.

Hopefully, Bradley is involved in a possible deal and not Rondo, but since Avery is a restricted free agent, he can't be traded until he signs somewhere, right, if we were to work out some type of sign and trade deal for him?  I don't know.  What if we get Embiid at 6 and Smart at 8, although that's never going to happen?  I have no idea why Smart is dropping in these mock drafts, btw.

I still think the team's primary goal should be to acquire veteran talent and maybe acquiring more picks is the way to do that.

But I really don't want to go overboard with rookies as I think the draft class is overhyped.

Rebuilding through the draft should be a worse case scenario.

And I think if we can't get Love, Melo or Monroe, we should try to pair up Rondo with Gay and Smith.

So we should be landing the veteran players, not other teams.
