This week in these forums I have read that Love is worth 3 #1 picks and Rondo is worth only one.  I don't even know where to begin to argue any of these comments.  I am very grateful Danny is the GM and not some of the people on this blog.

Love is 25 and just finished a season where he averaged 26 and 12.5.  Rondo is 28 and just came back from a major injury and sucked.  I don't think Rondo sucks, but his value is much lower than Love's.

Green and #17 for #8 and filler.

Isaiah Thomas can't be traded on Draft Night.

Considering Sacramento's desire for veterans that package would be my guess... The filler being an unwanted contract (or 2) from Sacramento.

Danny, earlier in the draft process, stated that the top tier in this draft consists of 8. I see him targeting a mix of Embiid/Smart/Gordon/Vonleh/Randle (in that order) depending on availability. I think he wants to keep Rondo to build around (ala Pierce) because he thinks Rajon will stay regardless of if a star is acquired this offseason or not.

Ainge will not sell low on Rondo or Sullinger and will sell high on Green.

Pretty sure he "liked" 6 players.   At least that's what Wyc said on a interview I think..
wonder if Danny sees that draft opportunity as Embiid at 6 and Gordon at 8.  that would be a pretty sweet pick up if Sac will take Green and 17

From your lips to God's ears.

Rondo and 17 would be ok too.

I know you don't like Rondo but good God. He can fetch a lot more than that. Why would we trade Rondo & 17 for #8? You don't like Rondo, cool. But these ridiculous trade ideas are getting silly. Why not get the most we can for him? Not this Rondo + 17 for #8 or Rondo for Gordon Hayward ideas you're talking about.

Nothing silly about it. Rondo isn't any good anymore, and he makes $10 million dollars a year.
If anybody wanted him, he would have been traded long ago.

There is so much wrong with this statement, I don't even know what to say.  Let's start with his current contract, he is on the books next year for 12.9mil, which most would probably tell you is a bargain deal for a 4 time all-star....if you can't even get the facts correct, why would any believe your hyperbole?

The Celtics lost the last six games Rondo played before his injury.
Rondo isn't any good any more.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
It's probably Green or Avery Bradley+the 17th+future picks for the 8th pick.
We'd then have to swing the 8th pick to Minny for K Love but they also take back Wallace and our crap.

ie:
To Minny:
-2014 #6
-2014 #8
-G Wallace
-2014 #17 pick from Celtics

To Sacramento
-2014 Minny pick#13
-2016 Brooklyn pick
-2015 Celtics pick

To Celtics:
-Kevin Love.

So, wait, the Celtics would be giving up five 1st round picks for Love? I hope not...that's a TON.

No, I only had 4 of 'our' picks going out- I edited the post to include Martin to the Kings and Brewer to us as:

To Minny:
-2014 #6
-2014 #8
-G Wallace
-J Thompson
-2014 #17 pick from Celtics

To Sacramento
-2014 Minny pick#13
-2016 Brooklyn pick
-2015 Celtics pick
-Kevin Martin

To Celtics:
-Kevin Love.
-Corey Brewer

Picks we send out would be:
#6, #17, 2015 1st rounder, 2016 Brooklyn pick
PLUS we are moving Wallace. So we'd be taking on 20 million (no problem) Minny takes back about 15 million, Sac takes back extra 2 million...so slight adjustment might have to be made for fillers.

We still own our other Brooklyn picks+trade option, and the Clippers pick, and we keep Sully and Olynyk. One of them is moved with the Clippers pick or Brooklyn picks in another big trade. We keep one for the bench while cost controlled on rookie deals.

It's a lot of picks, but we keep plenty of trade assets for more moves down the line.

Just gives the Wolves more hot assets instead of Sully or Olynyk. We may have to give up the Clippers pick to the Kings as well in this deal because if anything it's not as good for them as it is for us and the Wolves, but remember we are dumping Wallace and keeping Olynyk + Sully.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I'm not giving up four Draft picks AND Bradley/Lee for Kevin Love.  Sorry, but no.

I give up trying to guess what's going to happen in this draft.  I don't think Danny even knows at this point.  Be prepared for anything.

Let me ask a question about the Kings for a second-

There is the possibility that there will be a starting five of Rondo-McLemore-Gay-Smith-Cousins.

(1) That's REALLY INTERESTING!
(2) Train wrecks, also really interesting.

That team would have an even higher ceiling and an even lower floor than last year's Pistons or last year's Kings. After the Suns, this would have to be my new favorite league pass team. Agree?

Right before that they won 5 games in a row that he played. He's still a superstar. It's amazing how a player can be great or terrible based entirely on how well his inconsistent teammates are playing.

...or maybe judging talent is a little more complicated than that. Look at it this way, he led the team to the conference finals the year before and he was basically the same player then.

If it's a deal with the Kings, I have to assume that conversation starts with Rondo for 8 and Mclemore. The filler will have to be figured out but I hope we unload Wallace and/or pick up Isiah Thomas :)

Sacramento's offer for Rondo was supposedly Thomas, McLemore and 1-2 first rounders including this year's, and the Kings were probably lower in the standings at the time then they were when the season ended. I guess we'll see how much more than that the Wolves get for Love and we can compare their values then..

I don't think Rondo was ever in the superstar category (other than maybe for a few playoff games).

So maybe Rondo is trade for 8th pick and combined with 6th pick to get the # 1 overall pick?
