If the Lakers are serious about shedding salary to go after Melo + Lebron, they have to shed Nash quickly.  C's can absorb Nash's contract with the Trade exception:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ovl97pt

Wouldn't Minny trade Love for 6,7 and 17?

If LAL say no, we can sweeten the deal with a future conditional pick, or even just use the exception to move from 17 to 7.  Maybe Minny would take 6+7 for Love, who knows?

The trade exception, which I believe is expiring soon, could be the Lakers best bet to unload Nash.  Seems to work for both sides to me.  What do you think?

Unless they move a lot of payroll off the books elsewhere, Boston can't use the TPE until after the draft. Celtics can't go over the tax line (it's how they got the TPE in the first place).

No way on Earth I give Minny 3 first for Love in a loaded draft without them taking Wallace of our hands.

Can't or don't want to?  I thought the issue with exceeding the tax, was the repeater penalties, not an all-out prohibition?

If LA is offering that, Ainge should be on the phone NOW getting the deal done.   And there's no way I'm giving Minny 6, 7 and 17 for Love.

6,7, & 17 Green & Sully might of got us Lebron before he opted out. Lol Riley is a business man! No way I trade that for Love though unless that 3rd superstar was SURE TO FOLLOW.

Since the Celtics received a player in a sign-and-trade (Bogans), they can't go over the apron until after the July moratorium.

That does not prevent the Celtics from agreeing to a deal but not making it official until after the official end of the season.

Then trade Rondo to Sacramento and Green and the 17th to Charlotte.

We'll have picks 6, 7, 8, and 9. :)

If we could nab Love and only give up this year's draft picks, you almost certainly have to do it.

Make the trade for the pick, but not Love.

that would be really cool, the #7 pick in this draft is huge. but I can't imagine the lakers would do it unless they really believed that they could get a big FA. I don't think Melo is going to go play with Kobe + Pau + Pau's $20m salary, he might as well join the celtics.

I feel like the Lakers can do better than just giving away the 7 so someone will take on Nash's salary. The MCW for the 7th and Nash makes a lot more sense for both sides.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

If all the Lakers want to do with a Nash+#7 trade is clear salary, I'm so in.

Celtics trade: either Keith Bogans or the Pierce TPE, and a future first round pick (preferably Clippers 2015)
Lakers trade: Steve Nash and pick #7

I do this trade every single time... but never to acquire Love.

The top 3 in the draft is looking like it's going to be Wiggins, Parker, Exum (no order).

Vonleh will also probably be picked before 6 and 7.

That means there is one pick remaining before we choose, and the top prospects left are Joel Embiid, Marcus Smart, Aaron Gordon, Julius Randle.

My main goal is to get Embiid at 6.. getting Smart or Gordon (preferably Smart) at 7 on top of getting Embiid would be incredible.. maybe James Young at 17

Embiid / Faverani / Anthony
Sullinger / Olynyk / Bass
Green / Wallace
Smart / Young
Rondo / Pressey / Nash

That right there is a team.. We're not going to bring in any premier free agents.  We already have Bass and Anthony clogging up cap space, if taking on Nash means acquiring #7, we need to do it.

That is a very well balance starting five with a couple of great young pieces in Oly and Young leading the second unit.

Next offseason.. Bass, Anthony and Nash expire.. We resign Rondo to an extension and hope to  look into free agency.. Embiid looks to play his first full healthy season, Smart Oly and Young have a year of experience, and we still have a wave of draft picks over the next few years.

Get it done Danny.
