I've not seen this reported anywhere, and other guys like Broussard are putting out statements that are opposite of this.  But at the 28 min mark, Ford tells us that MIN-GSW have agreed to the principles of the trade - Martin & Love for Thompson & Lee - but are now haggling over the side bits like pick protections, Barnes, etc.  He's certain that they're going to make this trade.

I wonder why he's so certain when other reporters are saying the opposite?

Edit. . .

Notable things he says reinforcing his point:
  • Kevin Love WANTS to go to GSW
  • Klay Thompson WANTS to go to Min because they can afford to give him a max deal
  • This deal would make GSW the best destination for Lebron (would only need to make a few easy trades to clear the cap space)

Very strange indeed.

Ford doesn't usually beat most to the headline...
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

If this is true Minn has locked up the 10th seed in the west for the foreseeable future. Good work Saunders. ::)

Wouldn't surprise me, in spite of all the smokescreens this seemed to be the deal that Minnesota wanted.  I doubt Klay is too excited to go to Minnesota but the Warriors were never going to give him the max so maybe the money is incentive enough for him to go, especially if they're willing to give him an extension right away.

I don't think they'll do even that.  Rubio/Thompson/I guess Budinger?/Lee/Pekovic is a good group on offense but the defense will be pretty lousy, and the West is still stacked.

You mean the 10th seed. That is not a playoff team in the West and giving Thompson a max contract. Oof

This happens all the time. Teams claim talks are "dead" and stare at each other until one side breaks. So weird that this is buried in a podcast while most reporters continue to be duped, saying the deal will absolutely not go through.

Somewhere Ric Bucher is cackling at CelticsBlog!

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Believe when I see it. If it happens, lets go all out for Embiid.

Same Chad Ford who was saying a week ago that the Celts were the odds on favorite to land Love?

I like Chad Ford as a reporter, but I don't think the deal is done.

"Hey Chad, this is you know who from the Wolves.  How are the kids?  Hey we've agreed in principle to a deal with GSW we just have to haggle out the details.  You might want to throw that out there so other teams have a chance to WOW us with one last offer.  Yeah, don't use my name.  Only you.  OK, you are welcome bye."  Click.... I'm all in for Embiid and a full rebuild.  Trade Rondo for the 7th or 8th pick.  Draft Saric at 17 or trade up using Green like another poster suggested.  They'll be terrible for a year or two, but we'd all be grateful of it in a few years.

Interesting, Woj was just on CBS sports radio talking about how GSW doesn't want to give up Thompson and Flip wants to sell Love like POR did with Aldridge. We'll know soon enough if a deal is in place.
