RE: Report out of Utah ... would be bold & thoroughly unexpected departure for Jazz to be willing to surrender Favors on top of lottery pick

They must want Parker REAL bad.

The rumor is Favors, Burks and the #5 for #1 and Jarrett Jack. WOW!

EDIT: If that's legit, that's a Godfather offer if I ever heard one!! How do you possibly say no to that if you are the Cavs?

Oh wait....it's the cavs!

That would be crazy.  Both of those players are better than any of our prospects

I dont hate this trade for Utah. Favors and Kanter are basically both centers, and continue to be not that great so far. Burks is not needed with Burke and presumable Hayward in the fold.

They need a bigtime player. No one on that roster is close to being an all star. Parker is gonna make a bunch of them.

The trick is, if i am Cleveland i want to hold onto a top 3 pick. wiggins, Parker and Embiid are just that good.

Perhaps a new front line of Favors and say Julius Randle would be worth getting though. That front court would be a load to handle.

If Cleveland does this deal, there's still a solid chance they can get Embiid at #5 if that's who they're sold on and not scared medically.

Also, takes the pressure off them a bit in drafting Embiid.

Still a gamble that he'd be there, though.

Favors/Burks/5th pick isn't even that great of a deal imo...

Parker/Wiggins/Embiid/Exum could all turn out to be better than any of the players listed above. Favors is highly regarded by Jazz fans, but hes still a offensively challenged player that is great on defense, but can't create as much as offense. Burks is a great scorer, but nothing special.

I don't understand all these rumors of Cleveland trading down.  They were lucky to get that pick.  They should take the player they like best or trade it for an elite player.

Agreed....

Cleveland should honestly go the youth route, but get the right veterans to push them into the playoffs. It gives Kyrie/Waiters the experience needed, and Embiid/Parker or Wiggins could help them immensely.

They were SO lucky to get it, barring any more discussions about possible NBA conspiracies.... winning the lottery with extremely low chances is a sign... A great big sign that you need to hurry up and draft this player. Why take a risk on Love, or any other superstar who might leave? Get Kyrie inked up, and start planning for a wing/center.

Probably only for Parker. The Mormon connection is really strong. I over heard people a couple times while I was in Utah a week ago, they really wanted the #1 so they could get Parker.

I posted this trade idea yesterday.  I think Cleveland is doing this to still grab Embiid at 5, and that we should consider trading up to 4 if we want him badly enough.

Same here, but hey, they'll just get the 1st pick again next year if things don't pan out, right? ::)

That being said, they can't afford to blow it (again), so why not just play it safe and take Parker?  A core of Irving, Waiters, and Parker could be deadly, provided that Waiters isn't traded, and even if he is, Irving and Parker would be a great duo.  Is it just me, or are they making this way too difficult?

Good move for the Jazz, though I doubt Cleveland would bite. This years draft class is that good, and I think the Cavs would much rather take on Wiggins/Parker. In Stein's report it only said that the Jazz willing to give up Favors and the number 5 pick, it never said that the Cavs and Jazz were talking.

Maybe, but they also want to win now. Embiid wouldn't accomplish that goal. It would be awesome though, if they decided to run a duo PG set that's become very en vogue today, and traded the #5 for Rondo.
