The Celtics don't have the cap space to make things happen right out of the gate of the free agency period. Their time will come with the 2nd tier of free agents: like Avery Bradley.

That will happen after the big star players make their commitments and teams' cap spaces get filled.

Anyone looking for fireworks needs to chill. They tried to get Kevin Love and it didn't work.... Yet.
We have to wait until the good ship Flip hits an iceberg next season.

Interesting move.  That would give them Waiters, Wiggins, and Hayward at SG and SF.  I wonder if they are trading Waiters.

Reading between the lines, a sign-and-trade involving Thomas and Josh Smith may be in the works, and multiple sources say Monroe’s camp has made it known Monroe will sign the one-year qualifying offer if Smith remains on the roster. Monroe’s camp denies that, and that kind of empty threat is not atypical from top restricted free agents. It’s really their only form of leverage.

Interesting tidbit from the Lowe column. I would trade Josh Smith for Jeff Green and Bogans in a heartbeat. Maybe Detroit really gets desperate and we could move Wallace and the philly pick(s) for Smith.

I've been for this for a long time. Josh Smith could be our 2014 Ray Allen to lure our 2104 KG (Melo).

The Josh Smith experiment, playing  him at the three, has failed terribly and become very expensive for Detroit in more than just finances. He could be had for a song.

Then we'll have more assets to go after Melo. The Oak Hill Gang (Rondo/Smith/Melo) back together again.

Josh Smith at the 2 would work real well here, especially since at least one of Sully/KO would assuredly be gone.

That's what I was thinking. Take Perk's expiring and possibly another asset. C's youngsters could benefit from Perk's tough love.

Clippers Nets discuss PP sign and trade

The Los Angeles Clippers have engaged the Brooklyn Nets on sign-and-trade talks involving Paul Pierce.

Pierce is interested in reuniting with Doc Rivers with the Clippers.

Both Pierce and Rivers left the Boston Celtics last offseason.

No deal is imminent, however, as they continue to work on scenarios involving Carmelo Anthony or LeBron James.

Id like to do that with Houston. I have a feeling they will miss out on a free agent and then need to overpay for Rondo. Or we just take Lins contract and maybe do a trade involving Terrence Jones.....I love Terrence Jones.
