Gortat is reportedly close to signing a fully-guaranteed five-year deal with Washington.  The report says he had an offer from one other team.

Wow, so quick. That makes me think it's got to be 12 million per year, if not more.

Yeah. He's making well north of MLE money, I have to think.

He wanted a Pekovic type of deal from the get go. MLE money was way off the radar there.

Oh, definitely. Was referring to that comment about signing him for 5 years, $5 mil per. That wasn't going to happen.

Pistons decline Chauncey Billups' option:

Not a surprise but sad to see Chauncey circling the drain.  He should probably just retire but might be looking for one more run.

Wouldn't it hav been nice if he spent all or most of his career in Boston?  I'm still bitter towards Pitino.

I'd love to see Chauncey and Scal suit up alongside Brad Stevens as part of his coaching squad this year.

Clippers, I'm told, believe they have real chance of stealing Paul Pierce away from Nets now that Jason Kidd no longer coaching in Brooklyn
That is interesting. Pierce more likely to leave now that Kidd is gone.

I have a hard time seeing Pierce leave Garnett though(since he is returning) since it was pierce who convinced Garnett to accept the trade to the nets

it's a toughie for Pierce, reunite with Doc or stay for KG

reunite with Doc for a chance to compete for another chip or stay for KG and be a 1st or 2nd round exit

Probably depends on who the Nets replace Kidd with.  Is Hollins still the front-runner?

Even though their chance to compete may be slipping, I can see Pierce just sticking with the Nets.  They can pay him a lot more than the Clips could (limited to the mid-level exception and that's a hell of a pay cut).  It also keeps him close to his Boston connections.  And if Lopez finally stays healthy, they still arguably have one more shot at contending in the East.

After that, though, I think it all unravels.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Kent Bazemore meeting with Spurs and then with us. If the Spurs are interested in picking him up so am I. Hopefully the Celtics can pick him up.

You had me all excited when I read about Scal suiting up, but I was thinking of him wearing #44 again.

Even if just for one night.

If his defense isn't a marked improvement from last season, he's not the cure for what ails them.

The Celtics don't have the cap space to make things happen right out of the gate of the free agency period. Their time will come with the 2nd tier of free agents: like Avery Bradley.

That will happen after the big star players make their commitments and teams' cap spaces get filled.

Anyone looking for fireworks needs to chill. They tried to get Kevin Love and it didn't work.... Yet.
We have to wait until the good ship Flip hits an iceberg next season.

I think we've got the first "Detroit overpays a mediocre role player" of the season - Mr Jodie Meeks at 3 years, $19.5 million.   :D
