Doesn't Orlando still need a PG?  Trade rondo for Gordon

They got one in the draft. Late lottery pick. Elfrid Payton.

Really liked that pick. Terrific backcourt size and defense in Payton and Oladipo, although not so great in terms of shooting.

Looks like Orlando will go all-in with Payton next season.

Yeah, but maybe they get into this Lebron/Melo sweepstakes love fest a lot of other teams are getting into and they think Rondo could bring one or both in? If they waved players to open cap room, wouldn't that make some sense?

Not that I think either one will do that, but that wouldn't be our problem if they make that move.

If we can't get Love, that would be a VERY nice return for Rondo. And we would be crazy good at the PG and SF spot on D. Get Young into using his abilities to play good D, Draft a Defensive C and your good to go.

Man, now another wish list deal that wont go threw... :(

Yeah, that surprises me.

Payton is such an awful jump-shooter. I would have thought Orlando would've broken him in gently with a veteran jump-shooting PG starting ahead of him for his first year or two while E.Payton (and Oladipo) work on his shooting.

They got to figure Aaron Gordon in there too. Another guy who can't shoot. Problematic.

Toby Harris isn't exactly lighting it up from outside either. Really hope they lock him in the gym this offseason. Adding a face-up dimension to his game could really make him an offensive weapon.

They have been clearing salary like crazy. I think they end up making a push for a free agent. If they weren't trying to acquire immediate cap space I don't think they make the Afflalo trade or cut Jameer unless they are going after a max level free agent this summer (this might mean using cap space to acquire one via trade).
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Defender, rebounder, dribble drive threat and playmaker. No jump-shot. I think he measured out as worst jump-shooter (at guard spots) in draft. He can only really score at the basket.

Similar style to Rondo. Scrappy defender and playmaker.

I don't see how Orlando gets any of the top FAs. Their team is awful.

I would think that they would have target some of those second tier types. Probably the younger ones. Guys like Gordon Hayward, Greg Monroe, Eric Bledsoe and Chandler Parsons. Maybe Lance Stephenson - he is big enough to switch over to SF and play alongside Oladipo.

Do you guys think we will start to see trade rumors pick up tomorrow as well?  Since teams can't legally discuss sign and trade possibilities until tomorrow, I kind of imagine we will start hearing about things that have secretly been agreed to for weeks.

Free Agency officially starts at 9:00 PM tonight, west coast time.

edit: mixed up the time and zone. Long day.

Is that also a milestone for when teams can discuss extensions or opt-ins?  I'm wondering if there is something preventing the Kevin love to golden state trade ... When can love opt in for his 2015-16 season?  When can klay sign an extension ?

Smart had some great things to say about Payton today.

Really hoping this Lowry to Heat rumor is BS
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

I like how the Queen is reportedly asking for a max contract, as he should!

As of 10PM:

Love can opt in whenever. He could  also sign a waiver saying that he's formally waiving his early termination rights, which could be key in any trade talks, but I wouldn't expect him to do that until the deal is done and contingent on him signing it. He doesn't have to sign one, of course, but it's a nice piece of paper for a team to have: ala Dwight in Orlando for 2012.

Similarly to that, Klay can sign an extension as of July 1st.
