As one of the biggest Gordon homers around here, I've been warming up to Randle the past few days.

I think he absolutely can be an All Star.

The thing to remember is that he faced more double teams than anybody in college basketball last season. In the NBA, he'll be surrounded by better shooters at every position, so he will see less double teams.

His quickness is indeed underrated, and he is going to put up a lot of efficient points in the NBA, and get to the line a lot.

I was a little put off by his energy level that seemed to wane for long stretches when he played big minutes last year. The key with him I think is to play him in 5 minute stretches like we used to do with old KG. This way Randle can play all-out, his defense will be better, and he'll know a rest is forthcoming.

In short 5 minute stints like this, I think Randle could even play some minutes at SF. Part of the reason I'm so high on Gordon to Boston is because Gordon is already awesome scoring around the basket, and with Sully and KO spreading the floor, Gordon could play a Power 3 role on offense.

Well, I think Randle could also play that power 3 role in short minutes against certain matchups, and just crush SFs in the paint and on the boards.

Randle could also play some minutes as a small ball center in an uptempo unit, so there is a bit of versatility to Randle.

I'd be happy with quite a few guys at #6, and Randle is certainly one of them. Even as a rookie he is going to surprise and impress with his ability to put up lots of points, and he could definitely be a 20/10 guy in short order.

I know how much you love Gordon. Its nice when people can put aside their opinions and look at the other side. tp

You must have really really warmed up to Randle.

He's very inconstant in his shot. Some times he flings it, which resaulted in a lot of missed, but at the end he started to fallow threw, which he started to make more. He scissors his feet when he jumps to.

His ball fake was really bad. It looked like some times he was ballfaking in the same direction that he was moving. Plus he barley showed the ball. And he looked like he was going to trip over his own feet.

Parker's video he was selling the fake really well. And his foot work was really good.

I think Randle has the tools to be really good, he just has a lot of work to do between now and the beginning of the season.

This tape was unedited. Its dif than one in which the prospect makes every shot. I saw the Jabari one too....it reminded me of pp.

I posted the lakers shooting drill with smart lavine and vonleh....those guys were missing a ton of shots doing what Randle was just doing.

Wouldn't be surprised if Philly grabs him at #10 if not I think Orlando for sure takes him at #12.

No way.  It's almost guaranteed that Julius Randle will get drafted with one of the top eight picks.

You're most likely right, I am not expecting it to happen but like I said it wouldn't shock me. I also think the Celtics maybe looking at getting him at #6 or trading to #7 or #8 and getting him there.

Pretty sweet release. Dude's got some upside given the all around size / athleticism combo.
I thought this was a pretty poor showing, actually. The form didn't look repeatable, the follow-through was inconsistent, and the footwork didn't seem fluid. He won't be a great jump shooter in game situations with what he's got right now, although it can certainly improve over time.

That's certainly how I saw it.

It's a workout fellas, not a game. The emphasis of that drill wasn't the fake, it was making the shots.

Don't read too much into the quality of the 1 on 0 shot fakes, unless it makes you feel better about yourself.

Yeah, it's hard to tell with those videos that are cut. Smart,Lavine and Vonleh aren't considered knock down shooters, so I can see them missing. Im just worried about Randle's release being inconsistent. He's missing more because of that. When he fallowed threw, it got better.

It's like Gordons foul shot. He fixed it more like his jumpshot, and it's better.

Nik Stauskas had a video out were there are bigger gaps in the cuts. That kid can shoot. I also saw a video of him after his Freshman year shooting 3's from home. I think he missed 1 or 2 out of a hundred. While, not in game, it's still pretty impressive.

Sorry, but I highly doubt that happened.  I'm not even sure if any NBA player has ever shot 99% from 3 in that big of a sample size (even from the same spot).
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale
