don't forget the "couldn't raise the level of his teammates stat."
this. clearly not the leader he perceives himself to be. what separates him from the greats.

Lebron's good but not great. what's wrong with that?

Nothing to do with LeBron being great or not. He more than did his job this series, his teammates failed him big time against a very good and dominant Spurs team that was playing inspired.

At some point in the 4th quarter when they sat LeBron, he had half of the Heat's point. He finished with 31 points with 10 rebounds and 5 assists with only 1 turnover and 1 personal foul... and add 2 blocks to his stat line.

I hate LeBron as much as anyone, but let's not let it cloud our judgement about how LeBron performed.

I guess Lebron should have played for the league minimum and picked more All Stars to be on his team.  He picked this team, lets not now blame the team he picked.

Quote
LeBron James created 48 assist opportunities (passes that directly led to shots) in the 2014 NBA Finals, most on the Heat and second most in the series (Boris Diaw, 50). The Heat shot 41.7 percent (20-of-48) off James' passes in the series, second worst of any player with at least 10 assist opportunities.
His teammates really were just missing shots though, to be fair.

yes. no way a larry bird or michael jordan would've sat the last 7 mins of a elimination game in the FINALS. they would have had to be dragged off the court. that, and the fact that the greats were at their best when the stakes were highest. lebron has rarely been that.

Not One, Not Two, Not Th.....Whoops!

shhhh....there's a bunch of Lebron lovers on this board that see nothing wrong with calling yourself great and falling way short of that.
I have nothing against Bron... he gave it a heck of an effort... but I was rooting for the Spurs.  They deserved it after the heartbreak last season.  Also cool to see the Duncan dynasty continue.  One of the greatest ever.  Kinda makes me a little bummed that KG couldn't keep it up.

Also looking forward to seeing what LeBron decides to do this summer... just hope he doesn't go to the Lakers.

yay! the decision the sequel!

no thank you! it's time for the Celtics off season. Lebron and his "horrible" teammates no longer matter to me.

Pop: No thanks.  :)

Ooooooo how I wish that would happen.

This is just silly.  If you combine the Heat's 2nd, 3rd, and 4th leading scorer from last night those three guys outscored Lebron by 2 points.  You have have to combine the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th leading assist men from last night to merely equal Lebron's 5 assists.  It takes 2 separate Heat to eclipse Lebron's 10 rebounds.  The Heat had 4 blocks, Lebron had half of them.  Lebron basically sat only 15-30 seconds of game action until the game was over at the end.  And yet this is Lebron's fault.

When will the irrational hate for all things Lebron James end?

31 points
10 rebounds
5 assists
2 blocks
1 turnover
1 personal foul

i'm being serious when I say I look at those numbers and wonder why didn't he have 61 pts.? why didn't he have 20 rebounds? why didn't he have 10 assists?

I know he didn't have 10 assists because his teammates suck...which may be true. but, and i'm not saying Lebron should have gone into business for himself but maybe just maybe his teammates were waiting, hoping, praying he would a little bit. I recall a couple of occasions last night where they said Lebron could have taken advantage of a matchup but didn't.

but the glaring number when I look at his stats - why didn't he foul out? why didn't he have 5 fouls?

I don`t like the guy but GreenWarrior is right

31 in total is not good  enough cause he scored 17 in the first quarter... so i guess he should have scored close to 70..

I don`t know whether he is better than Bird or Jordan ... Maybe he is not the leader he thinks he is. But his performance and effort shouldn`t be questioned ... as far as the last game goes at least

I love that the Spurs averaged 106.3 PPG for the 2014 playoffs with their leading scorer averaging 17.4 PPG.

No team from the 2014 playoffs had a leading scorer with a lower PPG than the Spurs.

That's awesome.  Great offense without one guy acting as the offensive superstar is the kind of basketball I like to see.

The Spurs restore my faith that despite many recent reports to the contrary basketball is still a team game.

Jordan AVERAGED 33 pts, 6 rebs and 5 assists for the playoffs.  So, while it's fair to say LeBron wasn't the reason the Heat lost the series, you CANNOT say he "did all he could do" or couldn't have done more.

You want to be on the Mount Rushmore of the NBA, these are the standards up to which you must live.

Problem is he sat out the last 6/7 minutes of the game. You can come back from 20 in 6 minutes. Reggie Miller did 10 points in a minute, or what ever it was against the Knicks all by himself.

He gave up because it was too hard. He should have been on the floor at the end, swinging away, trying to get that win. If you're a leader of the team, you lead by example. When LeBron gave up, so did the team. So yeah it's his fault they lost.

"Averaged for the playoffs". i'm talking about 1 game, an elimination game. forget the pts, assists & rebounds the 1 personal foul is the glaring number. he should have fouled out, not pull himself from the game.
