After watching the Heat get blown out, I have a lot more confidence in this roster.  Get Love!

Second round win. Replace AB with someone else and we are a contender.
In the East, with the Heat likely to regress the squad listed would be a semi-contender. I'd say it would even have a puncher's chance of making the finals.

OTOH, with the right set of reserves it could, just maybe, go all the way.

I don't think we'll be contending next year with this team. The east will become stronger next year. We'll need one more star.

I voted eastern conference contender but barley. I would say solid ECF team if Martin was also added to be 6th man. I like the idea of AB starting and Martin backing up AB and Green. He would likely be the 2nd/3rd leading scorer in this role.

I accidentally read it as Rondo + AB + Green + Asik and put it at "no playoffs, but close"... i somehow didn't see Love in the equation.  That team would make the playoffs.

Playing near perfect? Title contender..IMO.

I say this because Jeff Green would be the key, here.

He has proven that as long as he has other stars on the floor around him, he plays GREAT at times off of them and can indeed take over games...we'd need him to do this in order to contend.

If not, then we'd need that bonafide 3rd star....but again, to me - Jeff Green has proven that he can carry a team in stretches as that 3rd scorer...and he can be explosive.

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urGmNFPKzqY

He does it ALL in this vid...he's moving the ball...taking players off the dribble....running the floor (Man, that's going to be SO EASY with those outlet passes from a certain player we all LOVE.... :) )

He's also playing DEFENSE in this clip..he's all over the place.

I know some will disagree, and that's ok. But again - to me - as long as he has OTHER stars around him, he can/will make our opponents pay for it.

I guess you can count me among the people that still want Jeff around if we deal for K. Love.  I think Green's skills match up really well with Love's.  Green is a terror running the floor, especially with all the great outlet passes from Love.  Love shores up one of Jeff's biggest weakness - rebounding.  Jeff is an athletic tall 3 which can help with any of Love's def challenges.  I think they are a good match.

I absolutely DO NOT want Uncle Snooze on our team going forward.  Having him going forward means this rebuild is a bust and it means we won't go very far.

Still no love for "Uncle Snooze", lol?

I'd bet that MIA, OKC and a few other teams in BOS's last season together with Pierce and KG didn't call Jeff Green "Uncle Snooze"....

I'm guessing he'd warrant the nickname of

Look, hyperbole aside, Jeff Green appears to be a much cheaper and perhaps Chemistry-Friendly SF and sometimes SG going forward for this team.

He even stated that the reason for his subpar season just past is that he was getting double teams nearly nightly as the Celtics' best player. Even with that he lead us in scoring last year.

I'd be perfectly happy with S8 if Melo doesn't come...and even IF Melo comes I'd hope we could still keep Green.

Again - surrounded by OTHER stars, he can explode. He's an Enigma but can still carry this team at times with decent talent around him.

I know a lot of people don't value AB, some down right dislike him (HAHA). Do NOT count me as one of those. He has excellent defensive skills. His offense has improved. I believe he was asked last year by BS to step up his outside shooting, much like Sully was asked to shoot more 3's. It was all part of the tankarama. I'm sure it helped extend his game. Next season I expect him to be the defensive pest he was before his surgery.

I'm down for AB for up to $6M per year. If someone wants to go crazy, I doubt we match anyway.

Edit: plus, he actually WANTS to be here - I like that a lot, just like Hump

This team can be a player in the east, the third or fourth best team depending on the Bulls. But that says more about the state of the East than anything else. They are still worse than all the top Western teams. Far worse than Spurs, OKC, Clippers, Grizz, Rockets, and also worse than GSW and Portland.

To upgrade this team to the tier of Heat, OKC, and Clips (Spurs are all on their own), we would need more. Two scenarios.

Scenario 1: Somehow trade Wallace and replace him with decent value. If you can deal a pick leftover from the hypothetical Love deal to turn Wallace into a solid 6th man, it's huge. Then, I think you still need a bit more. Pick one of three to make a contender:
-Better than expected improvement from KO/Sully, whichever is left after the Love trade. This would give us a really nice 3 big rotation.
-Rondo has a career year
-Jeff Green has a career year.

Scenario 2: get Melo (in 2015). Even if it means giving up Green and downgrading AB. We would likely have a top-3 offense, and maybe Asik can give us a respectable defense, too.

I think the HEAT and Pacers could still give us trouble.    DET might cause match problems for us as well with their bigs.  We'd be better than we are now, most definitely.   But Love can only do so much.   Rondo and Asik are not big time scorers.   Rondo dominates every once in a while with a super game but not the whole series.    Green is all over the place.   He could score 5  or he could score 40 but you never know what your getting.    That leaves AB and Love as your scorers and AB has improved but I think we would be in trouble with that regard.   We had trouble scoring at times with RA, KG and PP.   I think we 'd really have trouble with the RR, AB, ASIK , GREEN and LOVE.

With the Celtics upgrade in the coming months, the East can be very good next season.

I don't know why people are saying we have to improve on Bradley at the 2. If we got Love and Asik without losing Bradley, he is absolutely important to this team. I'd rather have him than Eric Gordon, Afflalo, etc. just for his defense especially if we take on Kevin Martin. Rondo/Bradley/Martin is a really good backcourt. Good balance. It really shouldn't need to be improved on.
