no surprise.  he's looking for a big payday, which he can still command, and to find a team with a better roster to join.  Houston and Chicago are mentioned but don't sleep on the Lakers grabbing him.  high profile organization with Kobe coming back next year.  if they keep Pau on a reasonable deal and move Nash, it could happen and give them an intriguing roster to get to the playoffs.

There's still only one basketball, right?

There's actually a rumor going around that the league is going to allow all 10 guys on the court to use their own ball.

No but I could see him taking his talents to Chicago or Dallas or some similar team.

The Heat talk is overhyped and will never happen. Bosh was asked about it a few days ago and said they had literally never talked about bringing Carmelo in.

You're right, he should have blabbed about it so all the attention would create a huge distraction for his team, not to mention trigger an outcry for tampering investigations.

He may have been telling the truth but to believe players don't know how to lie to the media is a little naive.

I could also see a possibility of the Heat bringing Melo in and either Bosh or Wade end up on the outside, looking in.

The trade idea of taking Asik and Lin together was discussed on Celticsblog ad nasuem a couple of months ago.  The consensus at the time was that, by being the only team to realistically accommodate the Rockets on this request, should be able to pick up a first round pick in the process.  No one is now bringing that up? Was that idea finally dismissed as unrealistic??

Regardless, I would do the trade. To get Asik without having to give up draft picks would be awesome.

Except the Spurs; and they'd still win the championship.

In the midst of watching the Spurs, led by a few young guys without any superstar credentials (sorry, but Duncan, Ginobli are role players in this series, if you watch the games) dismantle a team of superstars, I would hope a lot of GMs would be in the process of re-evaluating the entire premise that in order to win a championship, you need to have 2-3 superstars.

Of course that would be too much to expect of bloggers.

Boston anyone?

No?

I don't want to see Houston, Chicago and the Lakers improve.

I'd like to see the Celts improve, if possible.

If you want to see Celts improve, hope we do so by helping Houston get Carmelo.   It will make them worse, not better, in the long run.  That roster will have pretty crummy chemistry.  No ball movement.

Carmelo can go to the Lakers.

I'd enjoy watching their team implode with two ballhoggers in that lineup. Going to be Dwight Howard Pt. II for them.

In my humble opinion, Chris Bosh will opt out as well and head to Dallas to play with Dirk.

I do not think Carmelo is going to Dallas or Miami.  Its the Lakers, Rockets or Bulls if I am putting dollars on the where.

Celts do not want Melo, he plays NO defense whatsoever and you need to play defense to win championships.

How much of Lin's 15M salary is defrayed by merchandise sales?
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

It'd be pretty funny if Phil's first act as GM of the Knicks is losing his franchise player for nothing.  Overrated.

Boston anyone?

No?

Not enough cap space to sign Melo outright. I think teams are going to struggle to get him if they need to make a sign and trade to work.

So I don't think a team like Boston has much chance of getting Melo. Especially if they make a trade for K-Love and lose several of their most valued trade assets. Not optimistic. I'd love to see Melo come here but I don't think the C's have much of a chance.

Lakers or Houston would be my guess
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

This finals series is about Kawhi vs Lebron.... Wade/Parker and Bosh/Duncan pretty much cancel each other out. Kawhi has bettered Lebron the last couple of blowouts, and the Spurs' role players (Diaw, Manu, Mills etc) are superior to Miami's (Cole, Allen, Birdman).
I'm really enjoying seeing the Spurs pick apart the Heat!

Come to Chicago, Melo.

With Noah and even a 50% Rose along with Melo, that's a pretty solid core.
No thanks if not to the C's he can go out west >:(
