We are still 2 weeks from the draft and everyone here has posted plans to rebuild the Celtics.

Lakers are in a similar rebuilding situation and have a similar pick-

What would you do if you were in charge of them?

I'm not sure you want to a bunch of Celtics fans how to best rebuild the Lakers. Personally though, I would resign Kobe for another 10 years at his current salary, try and talk Kareem back of retirement, and get Derek Fisher back now that he's in his prime! The rest of the roster I would fill in from my local YMCA.

How is this for a start?

Sign and Trade Gasol for John Salmons, Landry Fields, and Amir johnson plus the #20 pick and 37.

Draft Marcus Smart, Glenn Robinson lll, and Mitch McGary.

2015 you will have Nash and the 3 guys you got from the Raptors all becoming free agents.  Should have money to get a good free agent

Sign Greg Monroe. Bring back Pau. Draft Marcus Smart.

Smart
Kobe
Somebody
Gasol
Monroe

They've committed to Kobe. Not much of a choice besides "win now".
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

  • Be the posts you wish to see in the world.
1. Mail 5 championship banners back to Minnesota to restore karma.
2. Spend #7 pick on whichever Euro prospect has the most consonants.
3. Forge letter from Dr James Andrews telling Kobe finding missing Malaysian plane will fully restore youthful vigor to knees and Achilles.
4. Tell Nick Young "you're our Kobe now."  Sign to $40 million extension.
5. Spend franchise's entire profits installing multiple artificial lakes around arena to restore common sense to team name.
6. Watch YouTube clips of best Xavier Henry dunks while stroking chin.  Sign to $45 million extension.
7. Sign+trade Pau Gasol to Chile for world's handsomest llama.  Sign llama to $50 million extension.
8. Give Magic Johnson any decision-making power whatsoever.
9. Burn down Staples Center.
10. Rebuild it!

To destroy the lakers sign Coach Cal to a huge multi year deal, then watch him struggle in the NBA again..

If I was seriously trying to build them back up this would be my plan.

1. Trade #7, #36 and Nash to 76ers for #10 and Thad Young

2. Draft Saric at #10

3. Trade future draft considerations to Rockets for Lin

4. Sign Deng or Ariza for around 11.5 mill for 2 yrs (try to match kobe length)

5. S&T Gasol to OKC for Lamb, Perk, Thabeet and future 2nds (would want #29 this year but dont think you can S&T for pick in the current draft.

This would give the lakers a starting lineup of

PG Lin
SG Kobe
SF Ariza
PF Young
C Perk
6th Lamb
7th Saric
then use the MLE to fill out roster

Other options would be to keep the #7 and add a PF by taking on boozers contract and keeping the bulls from having to amnesty him. Trading for Asik along with Lin is also an option but I think the Perk S&T makes more sense because it adds a good young prospect in Lamb.

The other teams effected by these moves.

76ers, they move up to #7 and will be able to add Randle or Vonleh to pair with Noel

OKC, Adams seems capable of taking over perks role and paint clogger/physical presence. The addition of Gasol changes their offensive dynamic giving them a go to post threat. Gasol, Ibaka and Durant form the best front court in basketball.

Rockets, get lin off the books and open up $$ to go over Melo
Mavs
Wiz
Hornet

I guess if Rick MUST exist somewhere this may as well be the place.

why would okc give up perk for pay? Their starting 5 doesnt need offense, their starting 5 is what they want optimally. They have had the same starting 5 for years
