Unless the Lakers bring in a legit star, I think they should keep Pau.
1. draft Doug McDermott or Marcus Smart at 7
2. pick up option on Marshall
3. Re-sign Pau at 3 years/30 million (team option 3rd year)
4. Re-sign Kaman at 2 years/4 million (player option 2nd year)
5. Sign Carmelo Anthony full max over 4 years
6. Re-sign Wes Johnson, Marshon Brooks, Kent Bazemore, Xavier Henry, Jodie Meeks (their cap holds are small enough that it is better to re-sign them after Anthony as you can pay them more then)
7. Trade Nash for Lin (saves Houston money, gets a nice shooter for them)
8. Fill out rest of roster with veteran minimum, undrafted rookies, etc.
That team is transitioning, but would be a pretty competitive squad the next two years and then would have potential cap space to pair another star with Anthony in the summer of 2016.
