Flaks allowed @thebiglead five questions with Kevin Love, but with one stipulation: no questions about the #Celtics http://thebiglead.com/2014/06/11/five-questions-with-kevin-love-of-the-minnesota-timberwolves/ ?

Yea that is strange.  I got my fingers crossed.

I always said when I left the Celtics, I could not go to heaven, because that would

See i find that odd they dont ask him about the celtics, it makes me feel this deal is in the works or done

Very strange..we shall see.

I thought the bigger thing from the article was when he said: "I can?t go anywhere without someone saying I?m going to their team. A Brewers game? I?m going to the Milwaukee Bucks. If I spend time in South Beach, it?s the Miami Heat. It?s funny how the world works. I respect what people put out there, but a lot of it is not true and laughable. At the same time, it?s fun and nice to be wanted."

To me he might be trying to downplay the Boston trip but inserting different cities. He went to Boston and a Fenway game which caused all these rumors in the first place.

What if Sully alone is "Kevin Love"? Mistake or nah? I'm not arguing that Sully will be as good as Love but I think he already shows that he can be KLove-lite coming off of back surgery. I think the only thing stopping Sully from not being shipped from someone like Love is how hard he works. I just wish we weren't rushing into Love, like give Sully a chance to get fit and see how hard he works..

Like he worked on his three last summer or body all last season.   Give me a break, I get he is your favorite guy but he will be lucky to be Carlos Boozer lite.  So far from people who have seen him during the workouts he has not lost a pound and looked the same.   Danny wants him to get more fit.   I think he is a fine interior player but he needs to stay inside ala DeJuan Blair.  But Kyle Korver he is not.  He can't make a three with a pencil.

Sure, mortgage the future...just like we did with KG.

As being from the Minnesota area, I am confident in saying that I have watched more Timberwolves games than 99% of the other posters here.  I think KLove is a fine basketball player, and would be okay with the C's acquiring him as long as the price is right.  But he is not even in the same universe as Kevin Garnett.

Most intelligent thing I have read all night.

I'd rather him be a Laker.  We need somebody who plays both ends of the court....Especially if we're mortgaging the future for the player.

Perhaps we should mortgage the future for Kevin Love.

A 25 year-old perennial All-Star..2nd Team All-NBA...26/13/4....legendary outlet passes......who will get better on Defense?

And who has expressed interest in WANTING to come to BOS? Despite what Ric Bucher stated?

Sure, mortgage the future...just like we did with KG.

And look where that got us :)

But we already had ray allen and pp...2 future hof players.

You do realize Sullinger was recovering from back surgery that summer and that Brad Stevens wanted to take more threes as part of his development.

Sigh....as I posted earlier....I've never stated that KLove is KG..but that we should do the same type of deal with Minny to get him (if the opportunity is there) that we did to get KG.

As I've read the blog over the last few weeks, it seems to me that there are two Camps here - those who will give up just a few offerings for KLove, and those who want him for the same amount we offered for KG.

There are also some nay-sayers here for acquiring KLove - just like there were nay-sayers present on CelticsBlog for when we acquired KG.

There are also the few who'd rather watch "Our young and Exciting Celtics Team" just tank again...let Rondo walk next season...and wallow in the Lottery for the next few seasons.

LaMarcus Aldridge isn't coming to BOS once he's a Free Agent. He will re-sign with POR and his young and dynamic PG Lillard. He also has incentive to stay in POR since they finally have a Center there in Robin Lopez, and they are very likely to make the playoffs again.

Carmelo Anthony is rumored to be joining up with LeBron (or vice Versa).

Did I leave anyone else out?

And has any of these players I listed showed ANY interest in joining with our Boston Celtics (Like KLove has)?

I have yet to see a clear alternative from anyone (Sans Love) that will get BOS back to playoffs AND contention.

Good to know.  We'll discount our offer appropriately. 8)

KG is one of the top 2-3 PFs of all time. Tough to watch him this year.

How do you like the offers from GSW with Lee and CHI with Boozer (I assume the PHX rumor with Bledsoe and Dragon is nonsense)?

I reject the notion that acquiring Kevin Love will get us back to title contention.

But he is a piece. A BIG piece. I've stated that before on here.

You should know that. I've read a lot of your posts, so don't feign ignorance.

All it takes is two to get the third one here.

Maybe Jim Obrien wanted Antoine to take all those threes as part of his development.

I don't see how encouraging someone to shoot 3's in games helps their development.  First develop the shot in practice before you fire away in games.

Sure -- and then you run into the Miami Heat's problem where you're drafting in the low end of the first round every year while being punished by the luxury tax, but instead of LeBron James and Chris Bosh your two best players are Rondo and Kevin Love.

Ask the Knicks how well their $10 Million(+)/year per 'Big Piece' frontcourt worked out for them.

Considering that the Celtics weren't looking to make the playoffs, it's best to assess what your young talent can do. Stevens probably felt that it's better for Sullinger to launch threes against competition and in practice.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
I can't BELIEVE people don't WANT Love here...

I mean, its a given we have to include the 6th pick, one of our picks, and maybe one or two of the Brooklyn picks... Don't you think its a given Ainge will ask for one of the Nets pick to be protected at least, and will give up Sully, Bass, Bogans? That seems like the most logical trade... Gives them a young PF who has experience with playing C, and is sort of Kevin Lite. I don't see what is wrong with that... I mean do you guys just want to be building from the draft, and choosing Aaron Gordon of all players? I have nothing wrong against Gordon, and he seems like a young and fine player with plenty of athleticism to boot, but do you seriously think any of the players after 6 will be better than Love?

Everyone talks about the inconsistency of Love, but guess what? I've stated numerous times in different threads, the lack luster HC, and how the Wolves are the best team in NBA history to never make the playoffs. Do you know why? Defense. Before you guys say Love is a big reason for that, maybe... or maybe not? Martin logs on average less than 6 minutes in crunch time due to his lack of handling his man... Rubio is an overrated defender, who gambles just as much as Rondo, but manages to pull it off a little more successfully.. Pekovic is a slow, and lumbering Center WHO SHOULD NOT BE YOUR RIM PROTECTOR!

I've watched plenty of Wolves games, and you CANNOT put the blame on Love like people have been on Carmelo also! The West is tough, but the East is extremely weak... Obtaining Asik, maybe Affalo, or someone else with Love can put us in the ECF, or definitely a 2nd playoff exit. And even if we use our assets, guess what? WE STILL HAVE 4-5 draft picks LEFT TO USE, OR TRADE FOR ANOTHER SUPERSTAR!

I'm selfish. I do not WANT to wait. I want to WIN now!

As a fan who have been watching when I first saw Paul Pierce, one of my favorite players, I've seen plenty of admirable young players thrive and work hard to represent and carry on the Celtic tradition. And that is championships, and rings. Banners. There is NO waiting, or re-building.. WE DON'T DO THAT. We don't wait for our moment to shine... we grab it, and other teams front offices/executives wonder what the hell Ainge has cooking up.

We p--- off other GM's, who scratch their head, and wonder how Ainge pulled off the 2007 trade.

To make it clear, I want us to snag Love unless the Wolves want like 6 or 7 picks. If its obtainable, I hope Ainge pulls the trigger... The Celtics have the most banners, and we have the richest tradition of Walton, Bird, Pierce, McHale, Russell, Cousy, etc...

Banners is synonymous with our name.

Love isn't going to get us a championship. But he is definitely a piece, and you know what? You need superstars to win in this league.. Love has clearly exemplified plenty of interest and admiration for our tradition... As much as you guys say Love will never surmount to KG, did KG ever come to BOS and want to learn our history? Did he ask questions about the glory and triumph until he got here? He, himself, refused the trade to BOS until we got Allen, even with Paul Pierce, one of his closest friends here.

Love wants to be here. That will definitely spark some leverage. So in conclusion, Love is a huge piece, that will also net us the 3rd superstar that wants to play for a team that has won banners, and has a proven track record. Love may never ever be KG, but guess what? Kevin Love is Kevin Love. We should not comparing apples to oranges, because Love is 25, and has plenty of room to grow and thrive. Paul Pierce used to be known as a terrible defender, but it wasn't until Rivers came, that even Allen/Pierce became serviceable on defense. I believe Brad Stevens can make even the worst defender, at least decent in team help... Love wants to win...

Sounds like a fit to me..
