*waits for the Spurs pick to see the steal of the draft*
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

I am really happy with who the Celtics selected tonight. There are still 7 or so players i like on the board. None of them are centers, and the Celtics are now stocked at the other 4 positions.

It'll be intersting if ainge buys into round 2.

Gotta admit I'm pretty disappointed in the outcome of this draft.  Maybe Maaahcuz SMaaaht ends up a good point guard... maybe he can co-exist with Rondo.... which I'm not exactly sure how that's supposed to work since Rondo needs the ball to be effective and Smaaaht can't shoot, but whatever.

We have a lot of mediocre players on this team.   Looks like we'll be tanking again next year.  26-35 wins.

It's Marcus Smart, and he is a very good player. I don't know if he can co exist with Rondo, but it's a good problem to have.

dude, you were leading the charge to tank and now you have the gall to complain that this is the result of that strategy?  using the luck of pingpong balls as the basis for building a team is going to lead to not getting that savior in the draft and having to take the BPA.  C's happened to get the BPA at 6 and what looks like a guy at #17 that could have gone earlier.

not too bad from my point of view

The Bruno pick....might be the instant single worst draft pick of all time.

I'm trying to think of a worse one....Kandi man?

Darco is about a million times more forgivable than that.

Mcgarry to OKC?  guess they needed the beef in their opinion but a guy like Hood would have really helped that bench scoring problem

Boston confirms the Celtics are keeping the pick of James Young. So Celtics were looking at trades all week, but keeping Marcus Smart/Young.

Andy katz

[dang]

Why the dislike for Young Who?

Kid has all the tools to be an effective NBA wing.

I thought there was better players on the board (Capela, Ennis).

Zero interest in Ennis with our roster and drafting Marcus Smart. Capela might be interesting, but I think he's projected to fall to the second round by many, so maybe there's a plan to buy a 2nd round pick there for him or such. I'm not high on Capela though, but it's interesting to consider.

For the second time, OKC had a secret promise to select a player. This time, it was Mitch McGary. Did same with Reggie Jackson.

is it possible that OKC took mitch mcgary away from the celtics? he was the best player for "size" centers, and he was projected around 32... and ainge likes buying 2nd rounders and bought a size center in the 2nd round last year. Even if not, they did take away reggie jackson who im pretty sure ainge promised as well.

LarBird33 I'm with you.

Zero chance they can play together, they would be the worse offensive back court in the league.

If they are going to go young then they better go all in, I don't want to see Bass playing 30 mpg, cut Wallace, trade Rondo and Green.

Can Young be that scoring SG/SF sixth man that I've wanted the Celtics to get to back up Green and Bradley?  Scouting reports suggest he is a catch-and-shoot guy, which makes him a nice potential weapon to put next to Rondo.

He's still only 18 and is said to need to learn defensive fundamentals, so I think he is the sort of player that you bring off the bench for at least the first year.  I really don't see him being a starter as a rookie unless injuries force him to be used as one.

Yeah I don't understand why some people are upset. The top-10 of this draft went pretty much as expected, that is by BPA. Smart is a very good player and is NBA-ready. Young is a decent selection at 17. I am guessing those who are upset were expecting a trade. Otherwise, what who should Ainge have selected instead?  Randle, another PF?  Never thought that made sense.

Rumor on the Michigan blogs all week was that Charlotte had a promise with McGary at #24.  It's possible that OKC was interested and picked him ahead of Charlotte's promise.
