The first archived mock I looked up, nbadraft.net, taken July 14 2012, Gordon at #4 behind Wiggins, Parker, and Randle http://web.archive.org/web/20120711035317/http://www.nbadraft.net/2014mock_draft

And looking at some other names in the Top 10 I know exactly how much credence to lend to this. Also, it's NBADraft.net, for crying out loud.

But I'm glad you guys now know how highly and how long Gordon has been considered a top prospect in scouting circles.

They're deluded, and also suffering from cognitive dissonance. Because they both belong to the "scouting circles" that supposedly held Gordon in high regard in 2012, and the "TV talking heads" who are talking Gordon down (hence the 10th spot now).

It's a false flag masquerading as a real flag that will secretly be a false flag when Gordon's out of the league by 2018 and no one is willing to admit it.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Stauskas is the only guy that certainly shouldn't be in front of Gordon.

Depending on team need, Randle and Vonleh and Smart are good enough to be taken ahead of Gordon, even if some people would put Gordon over all of them.

I think Smart is the better talent and has real DWade type potential, but I would still take Gordon over him unless there was a big need for PG.

Randle is obviously a beast but I like Gordon's upside more. Vonleh is getting stronger Chris Bosh comparisons so that obviously puts him in the Elite category of prospects as well.

What you guys should realize is that 5 through 9 are wide open, and they are all guys who would go top 3-5 most other years. Gordon is one of those guys, which should be completely obvious.

And what you should realize is that not everyone that "would go" 5 through 9 is a good,  reasonable and/or riskless choice. And that's not going to change no matter how much longer you continue to harp about Gordon's "unique package of tools" while downplaying or outright ignoring his obvious deficiencies.

Last time I heard that statement about DA having two picks so he could gamble on 1.... We ended up with fab Melo.  no thanks

Yes.....so true......once bitten ....twice shy

I keep having this Fab Melo draft nightmare......

Please.......Danny ......no more Fabs or JJJ 's

I would risk Randle wif a bad foot at 17 .....seeing how we will still be lottery bound most likely anyways.

All of these elite prospects have obvious deficiencies.  Some deficiencies are easier to improve with hard work than others.

Defense for one as opposed to shooting.

Apparently Exum has "refused" to work out for the Celtics: http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft-extended.php

If Exum's there at 6 I'd still jump all over him, workout or no workout.  He's clearly going to be the best player on the board at that point.  He most likely refused because he doesn't expect to go that low.  Even if he has some problem with Boston, he's not going to refuse to play in the NBA because he was picked by a team that's not atop his wish list.  I also hate the idea of letting a player in the draft essentially pick his team.

I wish I actually knew something other than what I've read about any of these players, but I don't.   So if, as all mocks and pundits suggest, Exum is in the top tier of talent in this draft, a fall to #6 would seem to leave the C's with a boatload of options.   LA would be salivating (according to rumors about a month ago) about a realistic chance to get Exum, and there could be a bidding war for the pick.  I think the C's will be in a great position to trade.  Perhaps the opportunity for Love comes more into play with Exum on the board at 6.

Excellent point.

If I was forced to decide between Vonleh, Gordon and Randle, I choose Gordon.  This is based on watching them each play several games in college, and imagining who "feels" to me like his game is going to work in the NBA.  I don't feel that way with Vonleh or Randle.  I remember watching Indiana game vs. Michigan State this season, watching Payne outplay Vonleh, and wondering why he (Payne) was not getting the attention by the fans.

Payne had 4 points (2-6), 5 boards, 2 turnovers and 4 fouls the only time he played against Indiana as a 23 year-old senior (Vonleh was an 18 year-old freshman). Vonleh wasn't great either (5 points 9 boards), but outplay seems a little strong...

Fair enough.  Just looked a lot more like an NBA player on the court. Those stats don't reflect their respective play on the court.
