If there's no other moves to be made this summer, acquiring Perk at his current salary would mean we'd have a nice expiring contract that could potentially be paired with future draft picks/young players at the next trade deadline. It would cost Wyc + Co. some cash (I love Perk, but he's no longer worth his salary). But, it would keep open a salary slot.
And, we could use Perk; he'd still be our best pure 5, he'd immediately improve our interior D, and he'd have plenty of opportunity to play. If he had a good start to the season, he might still be a guy that would generate some interest from contenders, if you're looking for someone to slow down Dwight Howard or someone to knock LeBron on his ass once or twice a game. On an expiring deal - I think he'd have a fair amount of value come next February.
