Seriously overrating our players

There's nothing better than NBA hot stove, and its nice that the Cs have some great assets to bring to the table.  However, in reading a lot of trade proposals, I find that we really tend to overrate our own players. 
I'm a fellow green teamer, don't get me wrong, but we all need to be a little more objective in regards to our own guys value.  My biggest issue is with Sullinger.  While he is a nice player, I find it laughable to think that he is really a valuable "chip" is DA's arsenal.  Maybe it's because we got him so late in his draft class, but to think an overweight 22 year old with a history of back problems is a highly coveted asset is ridiculous.
I'd be curious to see how fans from other teams perceive this player.  I think we all know our biggest chips are the 1st round picks in this draft, and in the years to come.  Lets start to be more honest with ourselves.

Happens with every fan base. I think Celtics fans are generally good at judging the value of their players. Most other fans don't see the value in Sullinger, but I don't see how that is important. No one is watching a 25 win Celtics team but us Celtic fans. They have no idea how good or bad he is. When discussing the Love trade, C's fans talk more about the picks we can offer rather than the player anyway.

You should check out Chicago, Houston, and GSW fans. They are completely overrating their role player assets just because they had 50 win seasons. Similar thing happened in 2007 with Chicago's offer for KG.

I think we underrate these guys, which is why they are all thrown into trade proposals together so casually.

Sully didn't have an offseason because he was recovering from back surgery, and then he was playing out of position at center most of the time.

And I'm even higher on KO.

I'm very excited for a big draft this year and a big improvement in our record next year. We still have a very competitive team and team culture, and with a healthy Rondo and fully recovered Sully, and a stronger KO, and some big time draft picks, we're going to close out many more of the close games that this team lost last year.

I have a friend who tells me that parsons and 2 future picks from Houston should be enough to get love. Talk about over rating. .. but then tells me sully bass JG and picks is a terrible offer

I think being conservative with the value of our players is a good choice. But in the same breathe I also feel that in Regards to Sully, the fact he had no offseason, was coming off surgery, and was playing out of position; must be mentioned.

This also applies to other fanbases. A player that is highly coveted by their fans, could be seen nothing more than role players to Celtic fans.

I think we over rate our own players as most fan bases do, but other fan bases also under rate Sullinger immensely.
The kid just turned 22 years old and averages 17 and 10.5 rebounds per game playing out of position.
He's only had the chance to drop weight this off season now that his back is fixed.

Chicago fans are screaming that a package of Gibson, Butler and Mirotic is so much better than our package of Sully, Green,#6 and a future Brooklyn pick(and any other picks we throw in).

The hilarious part is that some Wolves fans that are desperate to 'win now' seem to think Mirotic is the next coming of Dirk Nowitzki when Bulls fans are hoping he'll give them a nice 20 minutes per game off the bench next year if he makes it over.

While it's true all fan bases overrate their players, the issue is what GMs think.  All of the word around the league out side of Boston is that the Celtics do not have enough to get Love.  Out side of Rondo the national media does not think anyone on the Celtics have any value.  Reports are that GMs around the league agree.  Of course the only GM that really matters is the Wolves.

Great article, if worse comes to worse Danny isn't going to bend over for the wolves, we keep Sullinger and see what he becomes. He's got upside and a promising future so were good regardless (yes I'm already warming up to myself that we aren't going to get him).
