I think he may be a player a general manager might want more than a coach.  My feeling is that one key trait GM's look for in players is that they can score consistently.  Bradley can score.  Obviously coaches want that too.  But they are at the floor level and may be better judges as to players who elevate the team's play as well.  Bradley doesn't really do that so much.

He's a bit of an enigma for there are parts of his game we love and others not so much.  I believe he'll get his $7-8.5 million/year.  $6m is on the very low side.  He's turned into a very dependable shooter and they've been known to get $10 million a year or more without any defensive prowess.

Under the new CBA there's basically zero chance of that happening. In fact if he gets an offer of over $5.5 million I would be very shocked. Cap space is crucial now and giving someone like Avery $7-8.5 million a year would be up there with the worst contracts in the NBA.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

So, you're saying that under the new CBA, no GM will ever hand out a bad contract again?

You may have a point.  I'm not up on the latest CBA.

Jeff Green was not a bad contract. Rudy Gay is a bad contract for a player that is the equivalent of Jeff Green.

One team that hasn't been mentioned are the Lakers. They are flush with cap space and have an SG that can handle the ball. Depending on their respective cap situations Chicago, OKC, LAC, Houston, Detroit, Minnesota, and Miami are teams that would enjoy having an Avery Bradley. Ainge is probably going to match anything up to $7M.

The Lakers are in the same position with the Rockets. They want some big names. They will go after Eric Bledsoe. They have the ability to give Bledsoe the (near) max contract. If they can't get what they want this summer, they'll wait for the next summer. They believe they can sign Love at 2015.
