Would those worried about Love's defense be happier if we could get him and Gordon? Gordon's versatility as a defender might help a lot, particularly if we also plan to acquire a defense-minded C  - meaning that we could almost always hide Love on defense if we wanted, by having him cover the worst offensive frontcourt player on the other team.

My thinking is this. Ford's earlier bid boards generally showed that the Celts have Gordon ranked higher than most other teams...so if we don't take him, he could slip to the 9-10 range.

Assuming we've packaged #6 and other assets to get Love, could we package #17 and other assets (Clips pick?) to move up to #10 and snag Gordon too? I could see the Sixers as willing to move their #10 pick for the right price. Maybe the Cavs would consider something similar at #9.

Would something like that be worth doing?

Interested to hear everyone's thoughts.

Prob the only way I could deal with love so so defense is if we somehow also got to draft gordon

But your plan to make it happen doesnt qork

Plus the bulls imo are ahead of everyone else for the chase of love

I think it's a great idea, but trading up from 17 might be difficult.

Gordon is going to come in and defend immediately, I am worried that if he is picked high he will try to carry the offensive load and end up down on himself. Adding him to Love and Rondo would allow him to do what he does naturally and not try to be too much too soon. The best way to develop young players is to give them minutes but also have them learn from guys with experience.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Aaron Gordon and his 42% from the free throw line. Exactly the type of player we want to put next to Rondo...

I doubt it's possible to get Gordon after trading picks for Love.  But if we could pull it off, I still don't think it would work for a couple of years, simply because Gordon is still only 18 years old.  It will take a few years before he is an above average player and probably five years to become an all star calibre player (assuming he reaches the potential some of us have for him).

Probably because Love is an average player. And I guess, but this is a stretch, Gordon is yet another star in the making. Screw Love, let's build around the new big three of power forwards, revolution to the NBA.

I too wouldn't mind seeing Love and Gordon together, but think it's unlikely Gordon lasts to 9/10.

I disagree about Chicago being more attractive for Love. (He's gotta want to be there, don't forget.)

Everybody talks about Noah/ Rose being more attractive to Love than Rondo/?. My question to those pundits is " Which DRose are we talking about? Pre or post injury?" Rose's health is far more in question than Rondo's.

Haha!

I can only imagine the outrage around here when Gordon ends up shooting so bad he makes Rondo look like Ray Allen.

That will be comedic.

I thought putting Josh Smith and Howard together with Rondo is a bad idea, but this has the chance to be truly epic :)

Most likely Love will cost us #6 and #17 at least.  And even if we keep #17, no way in heck do we move up to #10 using next year's Clipper pick.
