I also think they should let Ronaldo play for us for the duration of the tournament, since he's been our MVP.

I wish he would have just saved us the trouble and not made that brilliant cross into the box in the waning seconds of the US/Portugal game.

But he redeemed himself today.  ;D

To anyone who thinks NBA refs are the worst in any sport, I present the World Cup officials.

That's because FIFA uses one officiating team from every country in the tourney, instead of just the best available.

Final standings group G

1. Germany
2. USA
3. Portugal
4. Ghana
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

We get the highlight reel pass (because holy crap that cross was perfect) and entry into the round of 16. Win-Win!

Sorry -- I'm an unabashed fan. The guy's fantastic.

Belgium hasn't looked that good and frankly Argentina has been Messi and not much else.  Given how good the U.S. has looked the last two games against two European powers, I actually like our chances of at least beating Belgium if not Argentina.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah

Also, Algeria can still win the group.  Now that would be pretty funny.  Algeria beats Russia and Belgium loses to Korea.

I don't know about that -- Messi's got some talent around him.

He does, they just haven't looked very good outside of him.  Of course that doesn't mean much of anything, especially in the next round where pretty much any of the 16 teams can beat any of the other 16 teams on any given day.

CONCACAF finishes with a 75% advancement rate with Costa Rica, Mexico, and the United States advancing and poor Honduras finishing as the second worst team (by goal differential).  Still a pretty solid showing.  Be interesting to see what those 3 do in the next round.

There's no reason they couldn't all go through. Costa Rica have Greece who can consider themselves a bit lucky to be in the next round. The USA will probably face Belgium who will be tough, but by getting out of a group containing Germany and Portugal they have shown they can play with the best. It would be an upset if Mexico beat the Netherlands, but the way they have played so far in their group they can definitely do it.

There's no prize for most fouling team at the World Cup, but if there was, then Honduras have that in the bag, so that's one thing :)

Ronaldo taketh away, and Ronaldo giveth.

We were through on the tie, CR just gave us a little breathing room.

We should have been through after the second game, in which case we could have rested players today. This is what hurt us in the last Cup, Having to needlessly fight for the entire 3rd group game killed us when the knockout game went to extra time.

So, do people still want to get rid of Klinsmann? Where are you, Mike Wilbon?  ;)
