I actually think Ronaldo's the tournament's Carmelo -- gotta give the honorary Durant to Neymar Jr., who has spent roughly 2.5 games looking like the best player on the entire continent.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Does anyone else think Argentina is having way too much luck in this tournament?

They're not playing that good, but Messi is making the difference for them time and time again.

That's what happens when you have the best player in the world on your team.

The thing is, he's not playing that great, either. I don't know, something's strange about this Argentina side.

Agreed.

Argentina don't look like WC winners to me. Weak at the back and in goal. Midfield doesn't link the game together. 4-5 guys attack and 4-5 guys defend. Not enough teamwork. Two separate teams inside a team. Attackers and defenders. Not enough togetherness.

Yeah, that could be it. They rely too much on moments of indivdual brilliance, and getting away with it. I mean, I've criticized Brazil for relying too much on Neymar, but at least they play like a cohesive team.

Surely this run can't last for another 4 games?

It could well last another four games. With so many big teams going out early this is the most open tournament in a very long time. They are most likely to come undone against a major European team such as Germany, France or the Netherlands.
well they won't play one of them until round two when they face Germany (because you know the US is going to beat Germany and win the group)

Apparently its a severe rainstorm at the site of the U.S. Germany game, it could be potentially delayed if the field is bad enough.

I wonder what that does to the other game as they're supposed to be played simultaneously.

Wow.

Good for the US, we don't want Ghana to win the game.
It's not going to be any better for the US if the game is an overwhelming victory for Portugal.

Suarez gets a 9 game ban (international), 4 month suspension, and fine.

He'll miss 13 Liverpool games apparently.

I can't see Portugal overwhelming beating anyone.  Though the larger Germany beats the US by, the lower that Portugal win margin needs to be.

US just needs to win or tie and not worry about it.

They said they'd delay the other game so they both can be played at the same time.

FIFA has announced that the game will be played however.

Something like that, plus 9 total national team games, which could affect their qualifying for the next WC.

Well, Portugal would need a considerably more overwhelming victory than Ghana, considering their current goal differential.

We'd rather see a tie, but it would obviously be better for us if Portugal won than Ghana.

Right, Portgual has a much larger goal differential to make up than Ghana.
