Tabarez continues to do an incredible job for Uruguay. Reminds me of the job Diego Simeone has done with Atletico Madrid. The commitment, passion and togetherness Tabarez has instilled in that squad is amazing. The discipline and defensive shape, brilliant. Got Uruguay punching well above their weight for several years now.

Remind me a lot of one another. How they have gone about things and have been overachieving with smaller nations/clubs.

Final standings group D

1. Costa Rica
2. Uruguay
3. Italy
4. England
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

None of you saw Suarez biting Chiellini? He's a disgrace. I hope someone cleans his clock in a few minutes.
Saw it after the fact online, didn't see it live.

Surely Suarez has to be suspended for rest of tournament for that.
He has to be!

Yes, certainly, but let's not pretend this was the reason Italy lost.
Eh it would have but them 10 on 10 in a tie game had it been caught.

But yeah Italy deserved to lose.

Seen a few replays now from different angles. Definitely a bite from Suarez.

Chiellini afterwards pulls his shirt down below his shoulder and shows the bite marks.

  • Bleed green!
Suarez is not a striker. He's an attacker clearly. Attacks his opponents in every way possible.

I truly don't care who wins. But biting is for toddlers, not multimillionaire athletes. Repeat offender, too. Disgraceful.

I'm with you.
As former german national team coach and current advisor for the US program Berti Vogts once famously (and completely serious) said:

I really hope that Suarez breaks a leg or something the next time he plays, the guy is a disgrace.
On the other hand.. I'm sad that Italy got knocked out so soon, but this one is all on Prandelli. In my opinion Balotelli was subbed off way too soon, it changed the game from an attacking standpoint.. oh well.
Jack of all trades, master of none.
