I kind of get triboy16f's point here. I'm on the fence on acquiring Love. On one hand Love is proven, on the other hand I think both Sully and Olynyk have very high ceilings. They're two very young big guys who've put up significant numbers intermittently - that typically bodes well moving forward.
I really like Olynyk's overall game very much. I love Sully's toughness on the boards and in the paint.
To me what we need most is a flat out top line scorer. With that being said, another route we could go is this. Melo can walk from NY this off season. New York can either get something back from him or let him walk for nothing. Melo could say find a trade for me to Boston or I'm walking to sign with Houston or another team. Jeff Green, Bogan's expiring and the worst of our two first round picks next year - likely the Cllipper's pick, somewhere in the early 20's?
Trade for Asik, use our draft picks this year, re-sign Pierce, use the mid level...
Asik / Faverani / Iverson
Sully / Olynyk / Hump or Bass
Melo / Pierce / Crash
Bradley (mid level) / Marcus Smart / Chris Johnson
Rondo / Pressey / Peyton, Ennis or Napier?
#6 pick: Marcus Snmart?
#17 pick: Ennis / Elfrid Peyton / Napier?
I would be very comfortable heading into next season with that team. You let Sully and Olynyk continue developing.
But a core of Asik, Faverani, Sully, Olynyk, Hump or Bass, Melo, Pierce, Crash, Bradley, Smart, Rondo, Pressey? I think they contend in the east - big time.
melo and Sully would be an absolute load on the boards. You cna also move melo to PF for small ball, Pierce at the the three.
maybe you take Gordon with the 6th, move Pierce to the off guard back up?...
But I get triboy's point here. the good thing is we have "a lot" of ways to go this June - it will be very interesting. That's why Ainge is a great GM.
