So we should wait for every single player with an inch of potential to develop for years and miss out on top league players?
I love Sully, he's my favorite player on this team behind Rondo, but when you have a chance for a top player in the league, you just do it. It's a no brainer.
It's not like we're talking about Anthony Davis or Andre Drummond being traded.
Are you giving ko and sully a fair chance?? Have we seen sully play with a pro body?? What about KO??
If either players best games were 15 pts , 7 rebounds playing 30 plus min, I dont have an issue trading them. But each produced some incredible numbers several games rookies or not. They just need a better body and put it together
Are you giving Kevin Love a fair chance? Have we seen potential in Sully and Kelly to be top 10 or even top 20 players in the league that Kevin Love IS?
If you're ok with missing out on players who are already there and we have a realistic chance of getting them, that's ok. I and most Celtics fans, I believe, and Danny also, are not.
Let's say your plan works out, either one of those guys turn out to be the players Kevin Love is today. We would have to wait for that at least 3 more seasons, and that's a huge IF.
Rondo will be gone, he's not spending his prime waiting for Sully or Olynyk to develop. Who do you have in 3 years to sign and improve this team? You could have Durant and Davis and whatever, and you could have nobody. If either one of them is a lock to be a superstar like Anthony Davis is, I would be all over keeping them even if Rondo leaving is the price.
And that's what it's all about. They could be very good, and they could end up being role players. And even if they ever become stars in this league, I don't think they'll be close to the Love's level right NOW.
If you fail on landing Love, I'm all for keeping them both and waiting to see where the road takes us. But right now, we have a very realistic chance of getting top 10 player in the league and have him and Rondo turn this around.
And yeah, you could argue if they are good enough to turn Boston around, but let's not get into it. I believe it, most fans believe it, and I'm sure Danny believes it.
