It is a fair question, but Id be inclined to say that it helped. Assuming he didn't have a bad experience with a fan (and there is nothing to indicate that happened), it showed him how supportive Boston fans are. I mean - the Celtics are the talk of the town today and they didn't crack 30 wins last season. He was welcomed with open arms by fellow athletes and people walking around the streets. He certainly didn't make his presence a secret (probably harder to do when you are 6'10" anyways) and seemed to be smiling in every picture you saw. I'm glad he came because he got a chance to see how universally 'loved' he will be from Day 1 and how important the Cs are to Boston sports history. DA has proven he can transform a losing team to a winning team in a hurry and he is loaded with assets to do it again. I'm sure that point has been made to him - he will be in the playoffs next season if he comes here.
But no - the attention didn't hurt. He plays in a small market now, but he has been linked to big market teams like LA, Chicago, GS, and NY. I don't think he is afraid of the bright lights.
Too much smoke to not be a fire - Im fully on board the Love boat.
