paul George is a top 10 player in this league....occasionally. but then he goes games where you wonder if he's even playing. that's not top 10.

You have to love the supremely deluded "It's better to have Loved and lost, than never to have Loved at all..." crowd.  Without an oral agreement for an extension, it's utter lunacy to trade for KL.  He's proven that he won't stop griping about playing for a non-contender, even after receiving a new contract.  He'll be off to Lakerland after one season (sorry, but Rondo/Bradley/Green/Vitor/Love isn't a contender by any sane measure), with a disillusioned Rondo following right after him.  And that, folks, would be the end of any possible rebuild.

Well, I'm glad that KG griped, complained...to John Thompson, here:

And I think that DA has more in store for BOS that just Rondo-Bradley-Green-Vitor-Love.

And why in the world would KLove want to go to LA? Even "IF" he left BOS after a year, Kobe is a year older...Lakers would still have no PG......

I'm guessing that KLove will like his prospects better in BOS.

Please forgive me, but I'm NOT taking 10 minutes to view your video...

With fewer extra picks, no help from the draft this season, and forced to retain BOTH KL and RR on max deals (salary cap room?), Danny might now have so many options beyond grabbing Asik.

KL was born in the same city I was (Santa Barbara), grew up in Oregon and played one season of college ball in LA.  He's been very open about his desire to maybe play professionally there.  Furthermore, he's spent time in LA and Boston...(hey, I love the city of Boston), including the winter months.

Like it or not (I hate it), the Lakers can always rebuild quickly because they are located in LA where there are real beaches, warm winters and incredible potential to earn endorsement income.

I'm sorry, SANTA MONICA, not Santa Barbara.   Sheesh, you'd think I'd correctly identify the city of my own birth.

I guess Santa Barbara was on my mind this week, sadly...

People can't have it both ways. I never thought a player like Love would be interested in joining the Celtic's so I was all for tanking. Even though we didn't tank as hard as I would've liked it still puts us into a great position as acquiring a top 10 player in the NBA which I didn't think would be possible.

How about we stop focusing on Love's one fault; for once a top 10 player WANTS to come to the Celtics, I don't get the hate. This is what we've all be waiting for, so what he isn't the best defender? The dude is one of the best bigs in the game.

Love is not a top 10 player in this league.  Yes he is one of the better scorers and rebounders but he is not overall (offense + defense) a top 10 player.

Top overall 10 right now (not in order)

Lebron
Durant
Westbrook
LMA
George
Chris Paul
Griffin
Anthony Davis
March Gasol
John Wall

The next group of players (not in order)
Joakim Noah
Harden
DHoward
Love
Melo
Curry

basically guys who can either score or play good defense but can't do both.

I don't want to give up the farm on a "weapon".  I will give up the farm on a complete player though. Someone like a LMA.  We need to be patient , plus the 2015 FA is coming out right around the corner.

You really think Paul George is all that? 5th best player in the league? I think that ranking is a sham, TBH.

After his abysmal showing in the playoffs? Plus, I'd question his teamwork....look, even "IF" he doesn't like Lance Stephenson, the dude should go back to Media 101 and talk to LS "In Private" rather than not offer any support to perhaps their 2nd most consistent player in the post-season.

Did you see the Post-Game Presser with George? Just sad...for all his talent I'm not sure I'd want that type of player in BOS...

Hmmm...exactly the same thing Celts fans were saying about Pierce after he did the post-game presser with his head hidden inside a towel...remember?

Let's not move the goalposts, here....we're talking about a supremely talented SF in PG that just doesn't play that way enough to even be in discussion with the league's best
.

So what does that make Indy? This was supposed to be their year...All-Star caliber C...PG a year older (and supposedly better)...MIA's supposedly a year older...Dwayne Wade's health supposedly made MIA vulnerable.

PG couldn't sustain dominance.

He just doesn't have the guns to be ranked in Triboys number 5 slot.

And If I remember - Paul Pierce never publicly showed lack of support to Antoine Walker, or any of his teammates.

I never addressed the question of PG's level of talent, vis-a-vis other SF's or the league as a whole.  I didn't move those goalposts - I ran right by them.  Looks like you ran right into them, though... :) ;)

One could make the argument that Love hasn't exactly offered up ringing endorsements of the his teammates (as a squad) in Minny.  But everyone is desperate to see him in Boston.

I think KL is a very nice player, a volume scorer and excellent rebounder.   I would be happy to see him as a Celt, but not for Sully and three 1st rounders (including both of this drafts').  I also am not enough of a dedicated kool-aid drinker to believe that a team with RR and KL maxing out on contracts here will bring another banner to the Gahden.

Ran into the goalposts? I'd say that Paul George was more likely to do that than I. He was the main cog that needed to play GREAT and at a SUSTAINED level to give Indy a shot and he only showed up one game - hence my discussion with triboy about PG's ranking.

Volume Scorer? Last player in Green that wore that title was this guy:

So  - just to get this right - you're saying that Kevin Love is as efficient a scorer as Antoine Walker?

And I don't think - at least in my posts and many other posters here - that I/We are implying that KLove and Rondo on max contracts is enough to bring  title to BOS....as I and many other posters here have mentioned - KLove is a HUGE piece - but not "The" piece.

And as for the rest of your post - how else do you propose we get KLove (or any other top 10 player) here in BOS? I don't see LaMarcus visiting BOS...or Melo......

So are we just to let these picks come to fruition? What would be result of that?

How long will Rondo stay in BOS with just a lot of potential around him?

How about we keep Sully and those picks and make a determined effort to make 8th or 7th spot in the playoffs?

You win in this league with TALENT..(see MIA, OKC)...perhaps Spurs are the lone exception to this, but once you have a rested TD playing in the post-season, I'd put him up against just about any Big out there.

Then why didn't Dwight stay?

At the end of the day what would Lakers have to put around KLove? An aging Kobe and no PG?
