Yea, I'm not too enthused about the D either but the ONLY reason I don't want him is the price. I can live with his defense if he at least tries harder, I suspect he might on a better team, especially when everyone else around him is going to put effort in down there. As long as everyone else is a very good/great defender then he will be fine.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

What Kevin Love does on offense far exceeds what his defensive issues. It's true that Love needs to work on his defense, but the Celtics can provide a defensive center to hide him.

this is as false as it gets. Sure he might torch 1st year rookies like KO or no defense David Lee on the offensive end more than getting beat on the defensive end. But usually gets beaten up pretty good on both ends from guys like Bosh, Aldridge, David West, Zbo. Even our own Sully did a pretty good job on him this past season

This season:

28 points, 11-27, 11 rebounds in a win vs Bosh (24 points, 9 rebounds)
29 points, 10-18, 15 rebounds, 9 assists in a win vs Aldridge (15 points,7-22, 14 rebounds)
15 points, 4-12, 13 rebounds in a loss vs Aldridge (21 points, 9-21, 6 rebounds)
20 points, 6-20, 17 rebounds in a loss vs West (13 points, 6-12, 4 rebounds)
42 points, 14-22, 16 rebounds in a win vs West (4 points, 2-10, 6 rebounds)
30 points, 11-21, 9 rebounds in a win vs Randolph (20 points, 7-19, 12 rebounds)
28 points, 12-20, 16 rebounds in a loss vs Randolph (26 points, 11-20, 12 rebounds)
16 points, 6-18, 7 rebounds in a loss vs Randolph (17 points, 7-11, 4 rebounds)
24 points, 9-15, 16 rebounds, 10 assists in a win vs Randolph (4 points, 1-8, 5 rebounds)

And outside of lobs and putbacks, Tyson Chandler can't play offense.

26.1 PPG  (4th in the League)
12.5 RPG  (3rd in the League)
4.4 APG  (1st among Power Forwards)
26.97 PER  (3rd in the League)
25 years old

Can we seriously stop with the not worth a max contract...players like this are who you build around.

Why dont you post some defensive stats also?? Prob near last in all of them.

I wonder if the Tyson Chandler interview is from the game when Love dropped 34 and 15 on the Knicks

Did you actually watch those clips?  His man may score but in most of them Love is in correct position and gives a decent effort.

Mike

decent effort? There is no effort.  I don't think he contested one jump shot. You can't even raise your arm? He also has seriously poor lateral quickness and little to no anticipation skills.

Just horrible

In most of those clips, Love is between his man and the basket and the guy just makes a shot.  You can make a montage of those same plays with KG, LeBron and anyone who ever played the game.  Guys who get blown by off the dribble or can't learn defensive rotations are guys you don't want.

Now, Love doesn't block shots and does focus more on offense than defense, but you know what?  LeBron wasn't exactly a super-defender when he had to do everything on offense for Cleveland.

Mike

This is one of many reasons why I want him as a Celtic:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FO6EbYAwKjQ

He actually plays defense on some of the shots he's contesting...

Can anyone here imagine James Worthy - I mean - Jeff Green as the recipient of these outlet passes from KLove?

Look, KLove won't ever be KG on defense, but he's not swiss cheese, either :)

Eh, minor details.

Anybody can rack up 34 and 15 on any given night ???

hmm? watching that video love picked up what looked to be thadeus young, rashard lewis & Sheldon Williams. 2 of those guys are small forwards playing power forward and Sheldon Williams hit a BS shot.

Regarding the Chandler-Love stuff, it was reported that the two are friends who were basically screwing around with each other.

I think Love is more willing to try hard on defense, compared to other scorers like James Harden and Carmelo Anthony.  I think he's better than either of those guys.

like I said earlier:

he could be taking the "I have to stay on the floor for this team to have a chance" approach.

So defensive Stats according to ESPN:

Rebounding = 3rd in the League (12.5)
Steals =  16th among Power Forwards
Blocks = 35th among Power Forwards

Hollinger Stats:
WAR: Wins above Replacement 13.56 (6th overall in the league)
RPM: Real Plus Minus 5.08 (10th overall in the league)
DRPM: 1.51 (92nd overall in the league) better than Durant, Curry, Queen James, James Harden, Melo, Lillard,...etc.

Who says he has to foul?  Just play solid D , stay with your man and put up your arms. Wave your arms. Do something
