If Love says he will sign the extension, I trust him a lot more than Dwight Howard.

Dwight never promised anything, did he? I know he's a flake, but I don't remember him ever giving the Lakers a guarantee. The Lakers assumed he would stay because they couldn't imagine anyone not wanting to play for their historic and beloved franchise THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS.

Exaxtly.

Ya and give up all our assets for a one year rental, I really don't get it?

Ainge has a great relationship with Love's agent, and has stated it would make no sense for Love or Rondo to sign extensions now, they would lose money. This implies that if he trades for Love he has some assurances that Love will sign a max deal with us next summer.

How'd that attitude work out with the Lakers on Howard?

Howard told everyone that would listen that he wanted to go to Brooklyn. If Love's telling everyone he wants to go home to LA or GS next year I doubt Danny would offer much for him.

In addition to the fact we'd be able to pay him the most at the end of the one year "rental", we can use the risk factor in our favor to be able to minimize the number of 1st rounders we have to include in the deal.

It was more than that. Dwight told anyone that would listen that he did not want to play in LA.

How do you trust a guy who is making all kinds of noise that he wants out?? If rondo reinjures himself, green sux again, we dont make the playoffs

You think love will resign?  Think again

I think that if a team's GM walks away from every move that has a chance of not working out they'll never contend for anything more than a playoff spot.

So getting love accomplishes what exactly? Yes he can score but he is just a mediocre defender. Couple this with the mediocre defense rondo plays = I will throw something at the tv screen

This just makes me want to trade for Love even more.

Here's your answer... There's probably no scenario where a team trades for love and then he bails.  The team that gets him will sign him to an extension so it's not Dwight Howard 2.0.  And in the unlikely scenario where sota hangs onto love and he reaches free agency, there's a 99% chance he signs with the lakers.

If you want him, it's gotta be by trade.
