Ya and give up all our assets for a one year rental, I really don't get it?
Ainge has a great relationship with Love's agent, and has stated it would make no sense for Love or Rondo to sign extensions now, they would lose money. This implies that if he trades for Love he has some assurances that Love will sign a max deal with us next summer.
How'd that attitude work out with the Lakers on Howard?
First I don't think Howard really wanted to go to LA. Kobe is a jerk to his teammates, Rondo is difficult, but not on Kobes level.
Plus if you don't bring him in, you have a better shot at loosing him to LA or any other team making room for him. And Love wants to leave now. Minni wants to start the rebuild now. They'll send him to either Huston,GSW,Chicago if Boston doesn't make a deal, and theres a good chance he stays in those cities.
Love will most likely okay a deal were he will want to resign with next season. So if it isn't Boston it's where ever Minni sends him. Bottom line is he's not playing for Minni next season, and Minni wants to rebuild starting now. You don't trade for him, most likely he wont come to Boston for less money than the team he okays a deal he gets traded to.
Either way your taking a huge risk. I'd go for the one we give a little up, and show him how great of a place Boston is to play for. Most guys like playing Boston once they get here. Unless the season goes to crap, I can't see why he wouldn't want to come back.
