Wallace Bass and 6th pick for Splitter and Kawhi.

Wallace has one less year on contract than Splitter, who is very overpaid.  They get a chance to add a player that could be their PF of the future in Randle or Vonleh.  Wallace can play SF for them in Kawhis place.

We get Kawhi to go with Rondo, Bradley, Sullinger, and Olynyk.  Splitter would probably start at Center and provide 24 mins like he does for Spurs.  Draft a 2/3 with the 17th pick.

Can't imagine San Antonio breaks up any part of their team. This would be great for the Celts.

It just depends on if they think Kawhi can be their go to scorer in 2 years or if he will always be a glue guy.  Maybe Randle could be their next franchise player and they would take that risk?  Maybe Celtics use future pick to sweeten  deal?

Im not really sure if adding picks is the issue.. I dont think San Antonio are as concerned woth draft picks as they are with team chemistry and Kawhi and Splitter are two players who just glue that team together with their unselfish play... Dont see anyway Spurs bite on this..

I think there is a 100% chance San Antonio does this. 110%. Think about Diaw outside the San Antonio system. Think about pretty much everyone on their roster outside of Parker, Duncan, and Gino. They are the ultimate 'system' team. Their organization makes you better by association.

Kawhi would be a valuable piece here, a guy you'd want, but he's no franchise cornerstone. Knowing SAS's luck, Exum or someone falls and SAS picks up their next superduperstar.

LOL of course we do this but ask yourself from their perspective, if you are them do you do it? You may still say yea, I wouldn't and I know they wouldn't.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I don't really understand how Splitter is that overpaid.  His per 36 numbers are 13 and 10 -- he just plays 22 minutes a game, because he's on San Antonio and that's how they roll.  He gets more assists than turnovers, doesn't foul all that much, and hits free throws decently.  He's a decent big.  Yes, he's getting paid $10 million this year, but his contract was smartly front-loaded because the Spurs had room to do so, and it decreases every year.  He does a lot of things well.

I think some people get get too concerned about contracts between mid-level and max.  You can try to go stars and scrubs, but not every team can do that, because there are only so many stars out there who are so good that you don't need solid role players.  If you're not stars and scrubs, having those players who are good at a lot of things but great at none is a viable way to build a team.  I know it seems like a lot, but making $8-10 million is generally the third or fourth highest salary on a team.  It means you're not a star, but you're a good player.  This applies to Splitter.

I don't trust Splitter off the Spurs.

To many former Spurs who seemed great suck after leaving .

Guys like him appear better than they are due to the talent around them

I think it's the talent on the sideline more than anything.

You think there's a 100% chance that San Antonio takes on a worthless player on a bad contract (Wallace), Bass and the #6 pick for two starters on a contender?

The #6 isn't going to contribute right away.  San Antonio would be basically blowing up a championship team to build for the future, which doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Especially when that Organization is San Antonio. They don't make gambles and mistakes like that especially when they aren't necessary.

imagine this was the 2010 offseason. We just lost against the Lakers. GSW comes to us with a trade proposal of:

Rondo and Perkins (injured) for the draft rights to Ekpe Udoh (#6), Vlad Radmanovic, Reggie Williams and Andris Biedrins.

Would you bite?  ;D this is kinda what this trade proposal sounds like.

Splitter only plays 24 minutes because Splitter-Duncan kills their spacing.

The Spurs' offense is based on passing. Brandon Bass would be the worst addition to their team.
He can't pass and has butter fingers.
The San Antonio offense would be a real challenge for him. The ball sticks to his hands if you pass it to him.
