Kelly Olynyk shot over 50% and over 42% from 3 as soon as he finally got comfortable at the NBA level after being named to the All Star festivities.

Dirk has only shot at those %s for a whole season once in his career, and yet those %s from Olynyk aren't even grounds for optimism around here. And the idea that he could be a poor man's Dirk is still laughable.

Any excuse or worst case scenario will do to bash this kid and to be skeptical of his future.

Because he doesn't have the right wingspan to height ratio, above the rim athleticism, and he looks like a dork.

Same underlying reasons why Donald Sterling didn't want to give JJ Reddick a 7 million per year contract.

Maybe he is trying to garner favor with the 6 and 7 picks so that he is drafted. I don't agree with a lot of people on this blog that he should be picked in that slot.....even if he is i think randle and vonleh are better pfs

So if we don't like the guy, it's automatically Euro bias?  Um...okay.  ::)

It has nothing to do with what we've seen of him on tape or anything, though.  It's that Euro bias, you know.

What have you seen on tape? A year old scouting report?

You guys would do well to watch actual games of Saric from this year, not year old scouting videos from when he was a teenager, before making these definitive opinions.

Here, at least watch Saric's 2014 draftexpress scouting video instead of their 2013 scouting video: http://www.draftexpress.com/video/11390/

Oh, so if we disagree with you now, we're "clowns"?  I see.

Didn't realize we had a NBA scout & reputable authority in our midst.

Here's a helpful piece of advice: bail on the 'covert' implication that we're all bashing Oly because he's a white dude.

Secondly, you can go ahead and cherry pick sample sizes that favor your binky, if you want, but be aware that the rest of us can compare the two players in a whole host of other ways. For example, here's how Olynyk and Dirk compared at the age 22:

I just happened to have watched 5 of his games from this season before I opened my yap.

This goes for any prospect in any draft: If you haven't actually watched him play in actual games, and have only watched a couple youtube clips, have the humility to preface your opinions with "I've only seen a couple video clips but..."

It goes a long way, and it's a reminder to yourself not to lock in on your uninformed first impressions.

Let me guess, Olynyk's wingspan and slow feet will prevent him from being a lights out shooter and good scorer in the NBA.

Good for you.

And I still maintain that I wouldn't touch him with #6.    Which is all, you know, came out of my "yap".

That's precisely what we watched (shocker, I know). I see a player who is small, slow, not very polished or athletic -- and who feasts on inferior competition. If you see something different, good for you. Though I'd suggest that perhaps you don't understand the NBA game as good as you might think.

Kelly Olynyk shot over 50% and over 42% from 3 as soon as he finally got comfortable at the NBA level after being named to the All Star festivities.
Kelly Olynyk is a player with C height who might just get by as a PF in the NBA because of that. Saric isn't. Regardless, I wouldn't pick Olynyk 6th in the draft, so this point is moot.

So far, it's more the fact that he's scored 0-9 points more than twice the number of times he's scored over 10.

His passing is far and away his best attribute right now.

Having watched 5 full games of his from this year, I don't want him at 6 either, but I wouldn't throw a fit if we drafted him there.

He's quicker than you'd think, and at 6'10" his superior size at SF will help him make up for what he lacks.

He's extremely polished, and I'd recommend you guys watch a game or two to see for yourselves, though I doubt you'll bother.

He is second to none as a ball handler at 6'10, and he is as good a passer and general bbiq as anybody at that height. He has a complete post game, complete face up game, is an outstanding rebounder, is a good helpside defender and shot blocker, and he is very tough so he won't mind banging with NBA bigs at all.

The only weakness in his game is a streaky 3 point shot.

Full Disclosure: I actually like Saric a lot, and I hope he falls to us at ~17
