I was trying to track down what they mentioned about Larry Sanders and moving him to the C's. Did anyone catch this? I think they mentioned that if Cleveland takes Wiggins or Parker, then Milwaukee would take Embiid which might make Sanders expendible. They then suggested that we use our Trade Exception to get him.

Did anyone else hear this? Could this actually work for the C's?

Which would probably mean a lineup of:

Rondo
Bradley
Pierce/Green
Love
Sanders

Legit or not?

It could be.

I think we can absorb Sanders contract, but I don't know if we can honestly get him for that cheap. We might have to throw in a pick, and a second rounder.

It's based on your perspective, quite simply

Depends when his extension kicks in. If it doesn't kick in around the draft then it would work in the TE. If it kicks in then it wouldn't work.

True, could use the TE on Draft Night. But it seems like it'd be a little bit of a waste, shaving off $3 mil of it. Could probably send the Bucks a small contract to match Sanders', along with a pick.

He has a poison pill provision which would make trading for him difficult. Milwaukee has to receive in +/- $7 million where we have to receive in +/- $11 million.....I think

The poison pill aspect comes into play if you're sending a salary back right?

Check out this idea I had. The link above. Minny gets pick 6. Milwaukee gets 17 and the Philly pick.

Who says no? It's a monster deal but it's smaller then the Bynum Howard and iggy deal.

Boston gets shooting, size, a star and depth.
Minny gets vets who can help postpone a rebuild, push for the playoffs, and gets a high lotto pick.
Milwaukee takes back no salary, dumps a ton, gets a nice player to put next to embiid and gets a couple picks.

Milwaukee wants to move mayo and ilyasova has asked to be traded.

Everyone wins.

did anyone actually hear the conversation - I didn't hear it in its entirety - hence the topic. Is this what they proposed? or can somebody summise their convo?

Kane-

The one problem with that trade is that by the time the trade moratorium is lifted and deals can be made Sanders' extension will kick in and he won't be making 3.1M - he will be making 11 (or thereabouts)

Acquiring Sanders isn't impossible...it is just a matter of if the Cs are comfortable acquiring a player with a questionable personal life and work ethic heading into the first year of a big extension.

Kind of like 2007 Paul Pierce?

Similar...

If you are talking about the Paul Pierce that hung out with Ricky Davis too much and had stab wounds in his back from a club fight - then exactly!

Edit: Did Ricky play with Pierce before '07? Too lazy to look it up. I swear Ricky "smoked up" Paul on the regular during his time here...

Ah. Then the trade exception won't work.

Oh, the poison pill provision. I'd forgotten about that.

http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q89

So, for outgoing salary, Sanders' is a $3.053 mil contract, but for incoming, he's $9.41 million (the average of his final rookie-scale contract and the new contract he just signed to).

So, yeah, the TE might be necessary to make such a deal happen.

Yes he did. Davis played with us from 2003-2006.

I think 'character issues' are largely overblown in the NBA.
