I have Smart over Vonleh & Gordon.

I really need to brush up on Saric more to make a decent conclusion of where to rank him.

Smart's got the "it" factor, he's definitely a competitor. But I just don't know if he can develop that shot enough to become a scoring factor, and I don't think he's a good enough floor general/passer to succeed without it early on (ala Rondo.) He's a bulldog, I'll give him that, and there's value to a guy who just goes out there and competes every night.

I just think Vonleh's potential is so much higher, granted drafting on potential that high in the lottery is always risky, but there's only so many chances you have to draft a guy who could become a legit 7fter. As mentioned above, given his age, and how disproportionate his extremities (wingspan, hands, feet) are to his height, I fully expect 2-3 inches in growth before he reaches 20 years old. He's got all the physical tools you could ask for, it's just a matter of development.

In short, I respectfully disagree and I think he will be very good in the Association.

Even when he only scores 4 points in one of the most important games of the season, he still gives max effort on the right side of the court

Smart is going to be a great player in the future if he gets his head on right, and gets drafted by an franchise that is committed to winning.

Smart and Gordon are two of the safest players in the entire draft IMO.

I think Smart would be able to develop a 3 point shot. Heck an old Jason Kidd developed one. His bullying strength will be a huge positive, and he is one of the fiercest most competitive players in the draft.

I really hope Silver succeeds in implementing the two year rule.  Guys like Gordon, Vonleh, and Randle have such huge holes in their games that it's difficult to evaluate them.  One more year in college would tell us so much more about them.

Legally, I don't know how they currently get way with a minimum age requirement of 19 and one year removed from high school.  A guy has a right to make a living.  But I'm selfish and by raising the age requirement, the quality of play will improve at the college level and to a lesser extent the NBA since guys will enter the league with a better skill set.  I prefer the baseball rule where they can draft you straight from high school, but can't touch you for three years if you go to college.

Agreed Smarts my number 1 choice at 6 we need that toughness on this team. Kid has the attitude and tools to be a star
