I don't know if it's been mentioned in this thread but Sactown is supposedly willing to deal for Love even without the promise of an extension. If their package is good (and Love is undecided whether he will resign in Boston or not), I can see him being shipped to the Kings.

There will be no Love in Boston!!!  Because "The Maestro", Danny Ainge is about to orchestrate yet another  blockbuster deal.

No sooner then the Cavs let the words "Joel Embiid" roll off their lips, the Celtics will swoop in and offer Cleveland their 2 first round picks plus Jeff Green,  Joel Anthony, Chris Babb and Kieth Bogens for the rights to Embiid.  the Cavs will have been given an offer they can't refuse and at about the same time Rondo will realize there is Christmas in June.
But wait, there's more........The C'S will load up in free agency thanks to those 5 picks in 2015. this team will then be a monster and ready to avenge last year's embarrassment.

Knowing this board you will all chime in as to why this can't happen, and then it will!!!

Intriguing idea - but is Jeff Green, (Julius Randle or some other pick at 6), and (PJ Hairston or some other pick at 17) worth 4 cost-controlled years and 5 RFA rights' years of a player who has the potential to be one of the most dominant big men in the game?

I guess you could make the case for Randle developing into a dominant player, as well, but Embiid looks darn good. I would be on board if DA traded up for him or Parker. Exum and Wiggins I would be indifferent on.

Ainge clearly stated recently that he is willing to deal for Love without an extension. He said sometimes you have to take gambles. I think behind Ainge's talk is his relationship with Love's agent and an understanding that Love would lose money if he signed an extension, so there may be an unofficial agreement that if Ainge deals for Love, he will sign him to a max deal next summer when he can give him the most money possible.

we won't even sniff the #1 pick with that package. If we offer both picks this year, all Nets picks that we have, the clippers pick, and Rondo then we might have a chance.

Just for the sake of accuracy, I do not believe Ainge said that about Love. Though he probably well knew it would be interpreted as such in that context, for him to say 'no', he'd never trade for a star in the last year of his contract would have been quite a statement.

It's actually in Love's interest to be traded to a team that he'd resign with, but not to resign as part of the deal, because that way his new team would be stripped of fewer of the assets that it'd need to build a contender around him.

Since Love and Pierce have the same agent, Danny and Love's agent reportedly have a very good relationship.

The number one pick for 2 later first round picks, Joel Anthony, and an average SF?

I see no reason why that is not a fair return for the cavs

more or less yes. From the transcript of Ainge's radio interview a week or so ago, they asked him about Love and if he would trade for him without an extension, and Ainge said that for both Love and Rondo, it makes no sense for them to sign an extension now financially, and that he would trade for a player without an extension. He then said sometimes you have to take risks to improve. So no, he didn't clearly specify that he would trade for Love without an extension, but he strongly implied he would, and that he already knows that Love won't sign an extension in any trade with any team this summer.

Just curious, if we traded for Love and used our TE on Asik/Lin, could we afford Stephenson in FA?

Only if he accepted an MLE offer, or was acquired via a sign and trade, I think.

Probably not.

Yes, I listened to that interview on 98.5. I had thought Danny had just been asked about signing any star player without an exception ever. But I agree, Danny knew that people would be making the jump from 'yes, in the right circumstances' to 'yes, in the case of Love'.

I just don't see Ainge putting the fans and especially his players through another season like the last one considering the team played their hearts out when he has the ability to make the C's a contender, RIGHT NOW!!!

I'm starting to fall in love with with the 2014 draft class.  Chances are high that we could get a very good player with the sixth pick, but 26, 12, and 4 at the age of 25.  I mean say what you want about Love not being a winner or a leader or a defender, but let those numbers soak in for a minute.

26, 12 and 4 at 25.  Wow!!
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson
