Of course, there will be someone in this thread that tries to convince others that those two guys weren't talking about Kevin Love.

Don't know what else to say, man.

You guys get ready for another star to join the Celtics in the coming months, especially if and when Kevin Love comes to town.

Note: It's important to let some of you guys know (those who will think that I am just a Kevin Love fan being overly optimistic) that I'm not a Kevin Love fan. I enjoyed when KG would get all motivated and embarrass Love when playing against him. I know Love plays 0 defense and doesn't even come close to representing any leadership qualities whatsoever. It's an insult to KG to compare those two guys. But let's be real, a star (considered a "star" by the rest of the NBA) who has yet to enter his prime and is already putting up solid numbers is a lot better than spending the next 2-5 years with the thought at the beginning of each year that "this will be the year we become good."

Lastly, you can't be serious telling me that Danny Ainge wasn't referring to Kevin Love when he specifically said that he wouldn't mind trading for a star in his last year of contract who doesn't agree to an extension, especially at a time when all the Kevin Love rumors are at full speed. Wyc also saying "we will end up packaging some of those...that's under consideration as soon as this week or next"? That's just too much to say that we are reading too much into it and they didn't mean it.

Especially with Ainge referring to the trade for star in his last year of contract

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
If we're willing to take on Kevin Love without an extension it's a foregone conclusion IMO.

But I hope we don't do it. Or if we do, I hope we have a second move ready beyond Asik.

Well said, and a TP for injecting some sanity into the "Sully and Kelly to the HOF" discussion here.

Totally agree with the above.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Maybe he was talking about trading for a guy he feels is the missing link on a team ready to win a title.  The question asked was "would you ever" make that type of trade.  He could have easily been talking about a completely different situation.  It was a vague question.

All Wyc said was they are not going to make ten picks in the next five years.  He also said Ainge had 6 guys he liked in the draft.  HE also said that if they team cannot make a trade he was fine with drafting two new guys and playing the young guys until they either develop or become valuable in a trade.

Wyc has said since before the season ended that he expects fireworks.  This is nothing new that he said today.

I am not saying they will not trade for Love.  I am just suggesting you may be reading too much into this.

The Celts can try but the Wolves won't bite. Unless they can flip all those picks to draft a top 3 player in this years draft

The subject is misleading, bc again the Celts can give up the farm but its up to Minnesota to still say yes. And for love, i wouldn't give up so much either. That's how you can screw your future also.  For example when we lost Joe Johnson

I have no problem trading for Love if it makes sense, but not if we give up every 1st round pick over the next 3-4 years.  That is too much.

Why not? Minnesota has to bite on one deal and which team currently has a better offer for Love than the Celtics?

Some say the Bulls.

Butler+Mirotic+a handful of firsts+contract filler

Depends on how you value Mirotic.

What offer though??  The Celts haven't made one officially. It's all assumptions right now

The GSW fan websites think they have a strong offer - Lee, Barnes and Thompson (though they would be reluctant to include Thompson) to get a deal done.  This is a much better deal for Wolves to take then to take 1st round picks from us and start a semi rebuild again. Do you remember the last time they made the playoffs?

How do you know Ainge hasn't had discussions already (before the lottery and after it)?
Have you been keeping track of what Ainge has been doing?

I said that some people will say things like, "You're reading too much into this" and that is exactly what you said, word-to-word.

Anyways, we all good bro.
