Quote
6. Celtics -- Marcus Smart, G, Oklahoma State sophomore, 6-3, 227

As noted above, the last time the Celtics had a top-10 pick they traded it. This selection could be trade bait, too, especially with Love reportedly willing to sign an extension with Boston. If the Celtics keep the pick, Smart is appealing as a physical point guard who can complement Rajon Rondo now and potentially replace him down the road.

How am I supposed to believe this guy when he says Marcus Smart will go in the top 6?  He lost all credibility right there.  The Celtics and Jazz (#5) especially are not taking him

No real substance to that tidbit, but I believe the premise...

He can easily be top 6... probably BPA at that point unless you think Vonleh is better which I don't due to his ball iq

I just don't believe Ainge would make Stevens deal with a headcase like Smart.   It's just not what they're trying to do.

???

He's projected by most to go top 6.

Why would Utah not consider smart? He gets Westbrook comparisons. Trey Burke is not a franchise guy. They just gave favors a large deal so why do you think they'd definitely take randle Vonleh or Gordon?

Were assuming embiid exum wiggins and Parker are off the board right?

He could 4, 5, or 6 contrary to your claim. ORL has long been been linked with taking a combo guard (Exum), but they supposedly were interested in Smart coming out last year. Lurking on some Jazz boards I saw they like Smart a lot and there's some consensus that have a problem at the PG as well as having someone with cajones.  Has a bully game like DWill once did wth less offensive ability (still shoots better than 50% from 2 point range though and is strong on the PnRoll), but much better defensively.  I cannot imagine that we could use a guard like him unless I think about what we have as well as AB's possible departure.

Ok I get that my last post might have been a little overly emphatic and I sincerely was not trying to troll the thread.  I just really don't see him going top 6.

Smart could go to Orlando, otherwise he'll slide. He unlikely to go ahead of Wiggins, Parker or Embiid, and is probably about even odds with Exum. Utah isn't going to draft Banks the year after Burke. They aren't compatible and they do expect Burke to be their long-term starter. More likely they are looking at Vonleh / Gordon / Randle.

Nonsense. Love isn't going to leave money and years on the table by agreeing to an extension now, with Boston or any team.

Can we stop with the headcase stuff...Kid had ONE incident. Not justifying his reaction, but he thought the guy called him a racial slur and in the heat of the moment he reacted. Again, I don't agree with that reaction, but I wouldn't call him a "headcase".

All he did when he returned was lead his team to their best basketball and into the NCAA Tournament.  Before the above incident, by the way, he was seen as a leader and well mannered.  I would believe that most teams feel that he still is and are much less concerned about that fiasco than any one of us.

Not a fan of kids getting labeled because of a mistake...How many mistakes do we all make at the age of 20?  My goodness...

Yea, exactly.

I'm assuming Mannix is talking about extending when he becomes a free agent next summer.
